SHORT- TERM CONSULTANTANCY OPPORTUNITY Mercy Corps Nepal works to build the absorptive, adaptive and transformative potential of vulnerable individuals and communities across Nepal. Mercy Corps began operations in Nepal in 2005, and since then has implemented projects in the sectors of economic and food security; climate, natural resource and disaster risk management; youth engagement; with the inclusion of women and disadvantaged groups as important cross-cutting themes throughout each intervention area. Mercy Corps has recently launched Promoting Agriculture, Health and Livelihoods (PAHAL) Program and is a Food-for-Peace funded 5 years program with the overall goal that vulnerable populations in Nepal are resilient to the stressors and shocks that impede food security. Mercy Corps is undertaking Strategic Resilience Assessment to identify various drivers of food insecurity in 5 districts out of 14 implementing districts of Mid and Far Western Region of Nepal. Gender Equality and Social Inclusion (GESI) remaining as one of the major cross cutting theme of PAHAL Program, and realizing its priorities, Mercy Corps Nepal office is seeking 5 national consultants to support PAHAL STRESS assessment team for Rolpa, Surkhet, Doti, Dadeldhura and Bajhang districts of Mid and Far Western Region of Nepal. Required qualifications for the consultant positions must include: BA or equivalent in gender studies, social science, or other relevant field. Demonstrated skills and experience in designing and engaging in qualitative data collection research, analyzing qualitative data, and applying gender analysis to data collected, with an emphasis on identifying vulnerabilities and opportunities for engagement by gender group. Minimum of three years development work experience with GESI background would be an added value Experience on community facilitation skills particularly on GESI lines of enquiry Ability to work with team members Adequate written and oral communication skills in English. Pre-existing knowledge of the region and adequate understanding of gender and social inclusion dynamics in Mid and Far West Region, strongly preferred.
