The Summer Resident Assistant position in the summer housing program runs from May 26 through August 10. The summer housing program in the Student Village accommodates continuing on-campus residents, summer school residents, Orientation Assistants, and special student groups. The summer conference program works with outside groups (academic conferences, athletic camps, family orientation, etc.) who are housed for a specific length of time. The Summer RA position will work with both programs throughout the entire summer. Please read the job descriptions carefully. POSITION DESCRIPTION QUALIFICATIONS Summer Resident Assistants must be current SUNY Broome Community College students. Summer RAs do not need to be enrolled in summer school. EXPECTATIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES Summer RAs are required to be available and live in an assigned room in the Student Village (valued at $1500) from May 26 through August 10. Establish effective and ongoing communication with the Hall Director, area secretary, and Director of Housing. Establish a professional relationship with the summer residents. Be available to assist residents. Be a resource for residents in all areas of campus life. Enforce university policies and procedures. Actively participate in staff training and staff meetings. Complete room condition reports and assist with check-in and check-out processes. Complete other necessary forms and reports, such as housing rosters, incident reports, and work orders. Post notices and maintain bulletin boards. Present a positive appearance and demeanor to conference attendees. Participate fully in and complete all conference work as assigned for each individual conference, to include: o Be prepared and available to assist conference attendees. o Be a resource for conference attendees in all areas of campus life. o Complete room condition reports and assist with set-up and breakdown processes for summer conferences. o Assist with check-in and check-out processes for summer conferences, which includes using the Summer Conference computer software. o Complete other necessary forms and reports, such as housing rosters, incident reports, and work orders. o Distribute linen and other amenities for conference groups. o Report all maintenance concerns. Participate, on a rotating basis, in 24/7 staff office duty. Assist with other relevant duties as assigned. Follow and uphold all College and Housing policies. FURTHER CONDITIONS Summer RAs receive a free room in a suite of the Student Village (valued at $1500).
