Chase Farm is simply not sustainable in its current

WHAT’S HAPPENED?
The Royal Free NHS Trust, which runs Chase Farm Hospital, submitted
a planning application to Enfield Council for the redevelopment of the
Chase Farm site. The £120m plan looks to bring health services under
one roof, providing 21st century healthcare in modern buildings. The
application also proposed building 500 new homes and providing a
new primary school.
The application was heard by Enfield Council’s planning committee on
12th March. Conservative and Labour Councillors on the committee
unanimously voted to APPROVE the application.
A total of £275 million is to be invested
on transforming Chase Farm Hospital,
securing its future for the long term
WHAT DOES THIS MEAN FOR CHASE FARM?
The approval of the planning application means the £120m investment
is confirmed and the redevelopment of Chase Farm will now take place.
Along with the £120m for the re-build, a further £125 million from the
Government and £30 million from Enfield’s Clinical Commissioning
Group will be provided over the next five years for the hospital’s
transition and to manage historic debt. This funding - a total of £275
million - means the hospital’s future is secured for the long term.
Sales of disused land will provide £40m.
500 new homes provide much-needed
family homes and re-house key workers

WHAT ABOUT THE CLAIMS THAT THE
HOSPITAL WILL BE CLOSED?
Labour’s general election candidate, Joan Ryan, has delivered
numerous leaflets claiming the hospital will close. These claims have
been proven utterly false by the approval of the planning application.
It is extremely regrettable that Joan Ryan should seek to mislead
residents and patients on such an important matter. Such
scaremongering is dishonest, irresponsible and utterly reprehensible
given the effect it may have on hospital staff and patients.
Leaflets from Labour’s Joan Ryan about
the hospital closing are totally false and
have misled residents and patients
