SUPERINTENDENT’S CORNER
Need A Little Rain
As you all are aware, Manhattan is in a little bit of a
drought situation. We managed to receive less than
an inch of rain total for the month of July. Even
though the temperatures were lower than the past
few summers, without the rain the course still took a
beating from Mother Nature. With the help of the
new well to keep the pond level up, I was able to
water greens, tees and fairways almost every night to
try and keep them in great conditions. I believe that
my staff and I did a great job monitoring all areas of
the course during this past month and will continue
to do so to make sure our members and all visitors to
Stagg Hill have the best conditions to play on at all
times.
A look into the future for the course, Fall is right
around the corner already which means fall
aerification of greens. As of right now it is
scheduled for September 8th and 9th. As we all know
Kansas weather is unpredictable and these dates are
not set in stone, so I will do my best let the Golf
Shop know if anything changes.
