SACRAMENT OF BAPTISM
Second & Fourth Sunday of the month at 1:15 PM. Parents
are asked to come to the Baptismal Instruction the second
Tuesday of each month at 7:00 PM in the Parish Conference
Center located behind the church. Please call the Parish Center to register for the Baptismal Instruction.
We, the Parish family of Nativity of Our Lord, proclaim that by our Baptism we have received the message of
Christmas the great love God has for all people and proclaim that love to all we meet, and so to make present
the Kingdom of God on earth by service to others and by working for justice and peace.
Dear Parishioners,
On Tuesday evening April 28th we will
celebrate the feast of St. Gianna Beretta Molla
whose shrine and relics are here at Nativity Church.
The evening will begin with the recitation of
the rosary at 6:30 PM, followed by mass at 7PM.
Our celebrant this year will be Rev. G. Dennis Gill.
We invite everyone to join us for this celebration.
On Saturday May 2nd, the children from
Nativity school and Nativity PREP will receive Jesus
for the first time in the Eucharist. This is a very special day for our children, their parents and our parish. We ask that you keep our First Communicants
and their families in your prayers.
We also begin next week the beautiful month
of May. This month is dedicated to our Blessed
Mother. We here at Nativity will honor Mary in a
very special way on Tuesday evening, May 12th at
7:00 PM as we celebrate our Parish May Procession.
I ask that all our parishioners who are able
to, join us. Please come out as we honor Mary, the
Mother of God and our Mother. When we honor
Mary we honor God.
Those who join us for the may Procession
may meet in the church hall May 12th at 6:45 PM or
if you wish go right into the church and take your
place.
May God bless us as we celebrate these social events here in the parish.
God bless us all!

WEEKLY FAITH SHARING
Question of the Week
What does your parish do for ecumenism
and interfaith relations?
Catechism of the Catholic Church
280. In what way is the Eucharist a memorial of the
sacrifice of Christ?
The Eucharist is a memorial in the sense that it makes
present and actual the sacrifice which Christ offered
to the Father on the cross, once and for all on behalf
of mankind. The sacrificial character of the Holy
Eucharist is manifested in the very words of institution, “This is my Body which is given for you” and
“This cup is the New Covenant in my Blood that will
be shed for you” (Luke 22:19-20). The sacrifice of
the cross and the sacrifice of the Eucharist are one
and the same sacrifice. The priest and the victim are
the same; only the manner of offering is different: in
a bloody manner on the cross, in an unbloody manner
in the Eucharist.

Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ,
We need your support to continue to strengthen the
Church at home and help mission dioceses right here in the
United States. The Catholic Home Missions Appeal supports dioceses in the United States and its territories that
lack the resources to provide basic pastoral ministry to their
populations. Through annual grants, Catholic Home Missions funds catechesis, seminarian education, lay ministry
training, Hispanic ministry, and other pastoral programs for
dioceses in need. As a result of parishioners’ generosity,
Catholic Home Missions impacts the lives of nearly nine
million Catholics. The dioceses funded by the appeal comprise nearly 45 percent of all US dioceses.
For example, in the Diocese of Crookston, Minnesota, there are approximately 35,000 Catholics living within
the borders of the diocese and several thousand of these
Catholics have become estranged from the practice of their
faith. In order to reach out to these people, the diocese must
overcome the challenge of distance, as well as a shortage of
priests. The small Catholic population spans 14 counties,
with only 36 active and 12 retired priests. This shortage
leaves one county in the diocese with only a single Catholic
church and one priest.
With a grant from Catholic Home Missions, the
diocese is training seven seminarians for the priesthood.
These young men will return to their diocese in order to administer the sacraments within the parishes and to evangelize those who have fallen away and are waiting to be called
back into the fold.
Mission dioceses often struggle with high rates of
poverty and a lack of educated pastoral and lay leadership.
With your support, the Catholic Home Missions Appeal can
continue to provide catechesis, lay leadership training, funding for seminarian education, and other essential pastoral
outreach in home mission dioceses. Please be generous in
the Catholic Home Missions Appeal on the weekend of May
2 and May 3, 2015 and help strengthen the Church at
home. Your support will truly make a difference.

Dear fellow parishioner,
My name is Fred Blunt, I am a junior at La Salle College High School, and I am writing to tell you about what I
will be doing this summer, and to ask for your support. This summer, myself and two hundred and fifty other LaSalle
students will be traveling throughout the United States and the Caribbean to perform a week of service to the less fortunate. Groups will be traveling to the Appalachian region of West Virginia: to the Blackfeet Reservation in Montana:
The Gulf Coast: St. Lucia: Puerto Rico, The Navajo Nation in Arizona: New York City, France, as well as right here in
Philadelphia. Personally, I will be traveling to Browning, Montana - the Blackfeet Indian capitol of the world - as part
of a summer service trip sponsored by my school. Traveling with my fellow classmates, we will be working alongside
the people of the Blackfeet Nation on a variety of projects at De LaSalle Blackfeet School, a school founded in the tradition of the De La Salle Christian Brothers and serving those on the outer reaches of the reservation. I look forward to
doing good works we are all called to perform in the name of Catholic Social Justice. While these trips are clearly designed as work trips, they are spiritual as well. We will participate in daily morning prayer, evening reflection, the keeping of journals, as well as our being immersed into the communities and cultures we will serve in order to better understand and experience the true challenges of poverty, as well as to encounter firsthand Christ, in the people we serve.
Needless to say this is an opportunity of a lifetime, but one which also requires a significant financial commitment. I have personally contributed to the cost of my trip, as well as participated in a letter writing campaign in order to
offset the direct cost of my trip. However, getting to these locations is only half of the challenge. Additional funds are
needed to buy the supplies necessary to keep all of us productive during our time, and to maximize the true impact we
can have on these destitute communities.
I would like to request two things from you today. First your prayerful support of our efforts, and secondly your
financial support. While I know that these are not easy times for many of us, especially in our parish, I also know the
Nativity of Our Lord community and our collective focus on Catholic Social Justice. If you can support myself and the
other La Salle students in any way, I will be so grateful for whatever financial support you might be able to provide.
Thank you for your support and know that you will be in our prayers throughout the trip.
Thank you, Fred Blunt
