On this ordination weekend I ask you to

good priests as we minister in the name of Jesus.
Please join me in congratulating Msgr.

Catechism of the Catholic Church
283. What is the meaning of transubstantiation?
Transubstantiation means the change of the whole substance of bread into the substance of the Body of Christ
and of the whole substance of wine into the substance of
his Blood. This change is brought about in the eucharistic prayer through the efficacy of the word of Christ and
by the action of the Holy Spirit. However, the outward
characteristics of bread and wine, that is the “eucharistic
species”, remain unaltered.

NEPAL EARTHQUAKE RECOVERY
Brothers and Sisters,
We have all seen and heard the news about the devastation caused by the earthquake in Nepal. The United
States Conference of Catholic Bishops has suggested that
(arch)dioceses consider sponsoring a collection to support Catholic Relief Services (CRS) in their efforts to
help the Nepalese people in their recovery. Therefore,
Archbishop Chaput is asking the pastors in the Archdiocese to consider taking up a voluntary collection for the
benefit of the Nepalese people on the weekend of May
30 & 31.
As a result, Nativity of Our Lord will be doing a voluntary second collection on May 30 & 31 to help support
the Nepalese people. I ask that you be as generous as
your means allow. Your prayers and support for the
Nepalese people is greatly appreciated.

It's time again for final preparations for our trip to the Steubenville Summer Youth Conference
This trip has been in the planning stages for months now
and we met this week for the first of at least 3 meetings
before our trip in July. Excitement is at an all time high
level! All but 2 seniors are returning from last year and we
have 16 new participants! That is awesome!, The Holy
Spirit has been truly working in the lives of these teenagers.
What is a Steubenville Summer Youth conference?
These conferences are specialized to address the resources
and needs of today's Catholic youth, organized on a regional
level. With an exciting lineup of speakers, musicians, and
presenters, the HS conference will challenge Catholic youth
to stand firm in their faith, rely upon the awesome power of
Jesus Christ who is their guide, friend and Savior and to
show that faith to the world. It is an experience like no other
and shared with 3000 other teens from across the country
each weekend.
STEUBENVILLE "ADOPT-A-TEEN"
PROGRAM 2015
Would you please prayerfully consider "Adopting" a
teenager who will be traveling to Steubenville University
of Ohio for the Summer Youth Conference in July. We
ask that you make a donation that will help defray the
cost per student traveling this summer. Each person making a donation will be assigned a teenager to pray for and
support. The student in turn, will keep you in prayer and
write you a letter when we return telling you about the
weekend. There will also be an opportunity for you to
meet your adoptee and join us in our pre trip get together
during June and July. The total cost for this year’s conference is $340 per student. Any amount that you are
comfortable with donating would be greatly appreciated.
Simply fill out the form below and return it to the Parish
Office, mail or place your donation in collection basket at
your convenience. Thank you and God bless you!
If you have any questions about the program, please contact Fr. John or Barbara Palo at the Parish Office:

PARISH CELEBRATION OF PENTECOST
A Might Wind ~ A Festival of the Holy Spirit
SUNDAY, May 24, 2015 ~ 10 A.M. MASS
Before ascending, Jesus said to His disciples: Go therefore and make disciples.
Jesus promised to send the Holy Spirit who would assist them with this mission. On Pentecost the Holy Spirit filled the Apostles with a desire to share their faith. The disciples
took to the streets and the Church was born. Many were drawn to Christ by the conviction
of their words and the witness of their lives. All Catholics, through our Baptism, are sent
on mission to do the same.
Let’s celebrate Pentecost ~ the Birthday of the Church ~ in a special way again this year. At the 10 A.M.
Mass we will have our petitions read in different languages and our gift bearers will wear special clothing from
their country of origin. Also, our Choir will lead us in song and you can participate more fully by the following:
You are encouraged to wear something red ~ remember last year when the church was filled with red?
You are asked to attach a red ribbon to the outside of your home and car as a sign to the neighborhood that your house is filled with the Holy Spirit.
Invite a family member or friend who has been away from the Church to come home and hear again
the words of Peter to the people of many nations gathered outside that upper room.
What a beautiful time to celebrate, as a parish family, our baptismal call to mission and service. Let’s be
witnesses of our joyful and welcoming spirit and continue to live out our faith by bringing the good news of
Jesus Christ to others.
Let this Pentecost be “a mighty wind” of rededication, hope, and promise.

The HFU BIZ CAMP is a one-week program by Holy
Family University aimed at enriching
the business experience of motivated high school students
entering their senior year. Join us for lively discussions,
interactive exercises, lectures by HFU professors, and
group activities and gain an understanding and appreciation for starting a business while maintaining ethical
business practices. Students gain knowledge of teamwork
and leadership, communications, and networking as well
as functional business skills. Students also experience
the college life—college professors, campus classrooms,
campus center, and athletic facilities.
