Lake Riley News
June 2015
Hilsen fra Presidentin
Dear Members,
I would like to thank you for voting for
me as your President. I take this very seriously and
will do my best to do what's best for Normanna. We
have a great hall and Great members. I am very
proud to serve Normanna and its members. I have a
new email address for you to use if there is anything at all that you would like to chat with me about
or ask about. My email address is
[email protected] Please feel free to contact me anytime via email or my phone number is in
the newsletter also. Looking forward we as a hall
voted last month to not have a June lodge meeting
so we wont be getting together now until September.
At the printing of this newsletter some of
us were invited to have dinner with King Harald V of
Norway. I hope to give you an update as to anything
that happens.
Do you want to earn a trip to Norway? Well
it is possible. The Sons of Norway has launched a
Norwegian Experience Recruitment Contest. They
will be awarding the member that recruits the most
dues paying members into Sons of Norway from
each of the 8 districts. If you would like the details
they will be posted on the board at Normanna or
you can email me for more information. Good luck
and Great recruiting!!!!!
I just want to mention that we are a club
that is mostly comprised of volunteers And we need
all of you. There is no volunteer that is not needed.
In saying this I am planning on having a cleanup day at Normanna during the summer and we be
calling on all of us to help with the work. We will try
to do the cleaning, touchup paint, electrical, plumbing, etc. We are looking forward to a Saturday in
August. If you have any talents that would be helpful for the hall please let me know.
TUSEN TAKK!
Hope to see you at Normanna or Lake Riley this
summer, Steven Landro
We would like to congratulate the
following members that have been
awarded with a Golden Membership:
Leonard Kargacin, Judy Frye, Ruth
Nelson, Leonard Erickson, Joan Keller and Dale Keller.
Thank you for your long and faithful
service
The Midsummer Fest / Lodge Picnic will be
July 11. The Country store is in need of
household items in good, usable condition.
Please, no clothing, appliances or furniture. Drop offs can be brought to the Lake
or left at the Lodge in Everett. We also
need items for both the Live and Silent
Auctions. Hand made things would be
great. Also items for the Bake Sale. There
are many opportunities to get involved.
Call Dick Custer (360-653-2244) or Dave
McAllister (360-659-2785). Please volunteer and do your part, this is a very
important fund raising event for the park,
and it is fun too!
The Children's Fishing Derby will be held
on Sunday July 12. There will be a
breakfast on Sunday, too.
The Park is looking great. Care taker Chris
Berg has a list of projects that need to be
completed. We will be needing volunteers
for work on the pool this summer.
If you are planning on making changes to
your lot and /or structures, including cutting down trees, please bring your plans to
a Park board meeting. Plans must be to
submitted to the Board of Adjustments,
before you begin work. Board meetings are
held at Normanna Lodge, the second
Wednesday of each month, at 7pm.
Please take time to carefully read the Bylaws and other information when you receive the packet sent out by the board.
Sign and return the acknowledgement and
Emergency Contact/Water Shutoff Information form to Karen Sand, 520 Home
Place, Everett, Wa 98203.
Remember to honk twice when you enter
the park. Have your membership cards
handy when visiting the park. the caretaker must be notified when family or guests
have permission to use your lot for a short
term stay.
Lot owners are responsible for the actions
of family and guests. Call Chris Berg,
360-435-6910, for lodge and camping reservations.
See you at the lake.
ha det bra, Lisa Maher
Our swimming pool is a great asset to our
park. We need a group on volunteers to
maintain the pool. It is an opportunity to
learn about the pool maintenance and operation. Now there are only a couple of
people who do this important job, and they
need your help. Please call Loren Sand to
volunteer, 425-293-4406

Letters to the Editor:
My Fellow Members,
May, our last pancake breakfast until September, was a success with a large crowd and some new smiling
helpful volunteers assisting us old timers, Thank you, “You are greatly appreciated” and we hope when September
pancake breakfast rolls around, you and others will return to take over the tasks we old timers have been doing for
over 20 years. A number of us are in 80’s and 70’s are hard pressed to keep up the pace of volunteering to keep our
main to bill payers, Pancake breakfast and Boutique, running smoothly. A special thanks to Leona Olson for all they
years of planning and making sure it runs smoothly and efficiently. The expenses of your lodge and hall are immense
keeping your board of directors busy thinking of solutions to keep you lodge viable into the future.
Normanna has come a long way over the years and especially with the acquisition of Lake Riley for the memberships enjoyment and has supported it for many years with thousands of dollars of membership dues. Normanna
has given scholarships to a lot of members relatives for college and language camp, besides the local contributions to
other organizations needs. Please be sure to support your lodge and hall in its endeavors to move successfully now
and in the future by attending its meetings, offering suggestions, assuming officer positions and volunteering as you
are able. It is only right the membership of Normanna show their loyalty to the lodge for the many amenities it provides.
Thank you for your attention,
Darrel Erichsen V.P.
