From Your Pastor…
Just a few weeks ago we all were very excited that
three teenagers marked their salvation and confessed their faith in Christ to all who watched them
become baptized. Our youth and children minisPastor Bill Rigsby
tries are really working well and are exciting to
watch as the children and youth grow in Christ and
learn how to live their faith. Thinking about the baptisms, reminds
me of the coming of Christ to Jerusalem so that He might proclaim
that He is the Son of God. Because of His proclamation He would
be taken to the cross and crucified where He died and then was
buried in a borrowed tomb. His followers thought all was lost and
in their grief had forgotten what He told them that He would be
raised from the dead on the third day. Baptism for the believer
represents Jesus’ death, burial and resurrection of not only Christ
but that they have died to self, their sin buried with Christ and has
been raised to new life with Jesus Christ.
Does that excite you? I hope so because Jesus’ resurrection
brings new life to all who believe, by faith, that He is the Son of
God. I have seen this new life everyday during these first days of
spring. After all the dreariness of winter, we see new life everywhere and the sounds of spring bring joy to my heart. I was walking little Buddy the other day, fairly early in the morning, when all I
could hear was the singing of the birds; they were so excited and
ready for the warmer weather to come. Spend a few minutes outside thinking about God making all things new and realizing that
when you trusted Christ as your Savior and Lord, He gave you
“New Life in Him,” He calls it eternal life, full and abundant, now
and forever more. Praise God for His wonderful plan for all who
believe.

From your Minister of Administration & Education…
I would like to talk about a book that I read a few years ago. The author is Gary Smalley
and he has written numerous books about relationships. This one is titled The Key to your
Child’s Heart. I would encourage you to pick up the book and read it, it is not very big,
about 180 pages but it is full of useful information. I have placed it in the church library
for you to check out, please make use of it. Smalley says to keep your child’s spirit open
to you. Most of us at some time or other have shut the door to our child’s heart. If done
over and over your child can become closed off toward us. It is very easy to see the
manifestations of a closed spirit, arguing, resisting when you ask him to do something,
withdrawn, or not very responsive to affection. Do not despair; Smalley has five steps to
reopening a child’s spirit.
1.
2.
3.
4.
5.
Become tenderhearted. Tenderness can melt a closed spirit and open your child back
up.
Increase understanding. Try to find out what has hurt your child and understand that
person’s pain.
Recognize the offense. Many times, especially us fathers can offend our child and
not know it. It is important that we admit our mistake and ask for forgiveness. At
times our actions can be totally correct but our attitudes are wrong. This can be the
hardest thing to do, but we need to admit to our wrong attitudes.
Attempt to touch. Touching lets the child know that we care and that we love them.
A closed spirited child will avoid being touched. Reach out and touch someone.
Seek forgiveness. Seek forgiveness from the child that we have offended.
Parenting is probable one of the hardest things you will do and a great responsibility. It is
not always an easy thing to do. There are great resources out there and plenty of people
to talk to in the church, use them.
This month, there is the Easter Egg Hunt on Saturday April 4, 2015, from 2-4:00 pm;
please come out with your children and enjoy the afternoon. We will be at Tim and
Nancy Danyels farm. If you need the address or directions please call me or ask me when
you see me.
On Saturday, April 11 the children will be having their annual yard sale. The money
raised will go to help with the summer programs, camps, and activities for our children.
Please come out and support our children.
On Sunday afternoon, April 12, at 2:00 the Associational Bible Drill will be held at North
Anderson Baptist Church. On Saturday, April 25, the State Bible Drill will be held at
First Baptist Taylor, SC. Be praying for our young participants.

HERE’s HOW!!!
Attention Knitters and Crocheter’s!
Every October we send homemade hats
to Charleston to distribute to seafarers
who come into the ports at Charleston. Since it takes a while to make these,
we are asking that those who knit or crochet begin making stocking type hats for
this project. This is a project that you can
do at home all through the year. If you'd
like to participate, contact Judy Brown
(864-933-3234) for information and patterns if you need them. If you need yarn,
we may be able to help with that as well.

Sundays at 5 pm
An Open Letter
So, you are in your late teens or early 20’s. Now what? You are making some of life’s major
decisions that will have long term impacts:
What career path will you take?
What friendships will you make?
Who will you marry?
Will I marry?
What about money?
The potential to make choices similar to your peers and follow the trends of our culture are
enormous. But, are these the best choices for you? Many of your peers will make choices
that lead to deepening debt, relationship issues, possible addiction issues and a generally unfulfilled life.
Your life can be different. Come fellowship and study God’s Word with us as we seek to
learn how to use Biblical principles to lay a solid foundation for the future. God’s plan is to
prosper you, not harm you, to give you a hope and a future. (Jer 29:11) But, the catch is,
you have to do it His way. See you Sundays at 5 pm.
