February 26, 2015 A Weekly Newsletter of Fairview Baptist Church THE VIEW Jonathan Whitfield was preaching to coal miners in England. He asked one man, "What do you believe?" "Well, I believe the same as the church." "And what does the church believe?" "Well, they believe the same as me." Seeing he was getting nowhere, Whitfield said, "And what is it that you both believe?" "Well, I suppose the same thing." The majority of the things we believe were told us by someone we deem trustworthy. For example, we believe there is such a place as Zimbabwe because our geography teachers taught us so, but how many of us have actually been to see it? We couldn't testify from personal experience but we believe it because reliable people have told us it's true. As believers, we have a responsibility to know and share the truth of the gospel. Let's determine today to study His Word, spend time in prayer, and be ready to give an answer for the hope that is within us! This Thursday we have a tremendous opportunity to do just that….the Wild Game Feast. Our church will host upwards of 1000+ men, women, boys, and girls to a delicious meal and a guest speaker who will share the Gospel of Jesus. Glenn Chapellear is a professional fisherman who fishes on the FLW Tour and is the founder of Sportsmen’s Outreach. Sportsmen’s Outreach is a ministry which God is using to touch the hearts of countless men with the Gospel of Jesus Christ through the Tour level competitions and mission opportunities. You will not want to miss his presentation…….also, be praying for those in attendance who are lost and without hope. This may be the only time they enter the doors of a church….what an opportunity we have!! At the conclusion, we will give away tons of door prizes that have been graciously given by so many businesses and individuals throughout our community. I hope you will make every effort to be here Thursday at 6:00 pm. Have a blessed week! Bro.
