! Half Marathon & 5k : April 12, 2015 Participant Guide Thank you for your participation in Negative Split and your support of Children’s Miracle Network and Sacred Heart Children’s Hospital. We hope you have a wonderful race. To ensure a great race experience we have listed several important pieces of information below. Packet Pick-up Packet pick-up will be held at the Spokane Conventions Center at the Women’s Show during the Finish Strong Fitness Challenge. Packet pick-up is open Friday April 10 from 4-9pm, and Saturday April 11 from 10am-6pm. Come pick-up your packet and watch women compete for the title of Spokane’s Fittest! If you are unavailable to pick up your packet, you may have a friend pick-up your packet for you. Timing Bib Numbers All timing is provided by Nomadz Racing. Your mylaps bibtag is already fixed to the back of your bib. Please do not bend or fold your bib number. All bib numbers must be worn and visible on the front of your person. Results will be available on an iPad kiosk in Kendall Yards following the race. We will also have results posted on nsplit.com/race/ Event Parking PLEASE ARRIVE EARLY to park so you do not miss your start time. Event parking will be available in the dirt lots in Kendall Yards north of West Summit Parkway. Access to the parking area will be easiest from Broadway and then turning south on Cedar Street. There will also be access from Monroe street until 8:30am. Monroe and Post Street will both be closed prior to the race. PLEASE DO NOT PARK IN THE KENDALL YARDS PAVED PARKING LOTS- these are reserved for local residents. Parking Parking NO PARKING NO PARKING START Best access to parking Monroe and Post closed at 8:30am W Summit Pkwy closed at 6am ! Morning Gear Check If you want to drop off your clothes or other personal items before the race, simply bring your Negative Split drawstring bag stuffed with your gear to the Negative Split tent. We will mark your bag for you and hold it until after the race. You must have your bib number to claim your bag after the race! Race Start All distances will start on W Summit Parkway in Kendall Yards between Monroe and Cedar St (see map above). You must start at your indicated start time below to ensure accurate timing! 9:00am – Half Marathon 9:40am – 5k run Please line up at the start of the race according to your projected mile pace. Faster runners will be close to the start line with walkers being toward the back. Look for the corresponding mile pace signs when you line up. The Course: Both the half marathon and 5k course will start and finish in Kendall yards. Remember that not all roads are closed to traffic. Please be alert on the course and be mindful of traffic particularly along government way and sunset blvd on the half marathon course. Complete course maps area available online at http://nsplit.com/race/course-info/ Aid Stations: Half marathon participants will cross aid stations about every two miles on the course. 5K runners will have one aid station near the half way point on the 5k. Aid Stations will be equipped with the following… ✓ Portable Toilet ✓ Water ✓ Powerbar Perform sports drink ✓ Powerbar gels ✓ Gummy Bears Please help us out and discard of any trash within the aid station. Please do not litter on the course. Cutoff Times: The course will close at 1pm. If you are still on the course at 1pm, you may finish the race, but you must adhere to all traffic rules and you will be unsupported on the course from that point forward. ! Crossing The Finish Line Congrats on your finish! Volunteers will award you a finisher medal and finisher t-shirt inside the chute. Please take the size shirt you ordered when registering for the race. We will have a limited number of finisher shirts available for size exchanges. Come to the Negative Split info booth for all exchanges. After exiting the finish chute, head to the recovery station for fruit, bagels, cookies, and hydration. First Aid Thanks to U District PT for providing our race medical staff. In the event that you need first aid or medical attention, please make your way to the medical tent or let a volunteer know you need assistance. The After Party Thanks to Ninkasi Brewery and Veraci Pizza for hosting the after party for Negative Split in 2015! All money from beer sales will go directly to support Children’s Miracle Network and Sacred Heart Children’s Hospital. Hang out and cheer on other finishers while celebrating your finish. Awards Age group and overall awards will be given. We anticipate starting our 5k awards ceremony around 11am and our half marathon awards ceremony around 12pm depending on when all of our top finishers cross the line. Post Race Massage Thanks to Hand to Health Massage for providing massage to our athletes. Massage will be available before and after the race at $1/minute. Keep your bib# visible on your front side to be included in photos. Look for photographers along the course and at the finish line. toddconleyphotography.com. Spectators Negative Split is a great spectator race. We encourage your friends and family to come out and support you in your race. As a courtesy to other runners, we ask that all spectators stay off the course and cheer from the sidelines. A Note About Volunteers Please be respectful and thank the volunteers you see along the way. They are out there to help you and make this a safe race for all participants.
