SEMINAR INFORMATION
1. Please be aware that children and or visitors are not allowed to attend unless they are
registered for the class.
2. You may only be in the meeting room on the days that you are registered.
3. Classes start at 8:00 a.m.
4. Please be on time for all classes. We do not have additional time for latecomers to
catch up to the rest of the class.
5. We MUST be out of the meeting room on time each evening. Class times will be posted
upon arrival. Please have your area cleaned up and be ready to leave by the posted
time each day.
6. You may leave all your projects, sewing machines, etc. in the meeting room overnight.
The meeting room will be securely locked each night when we have cleared the room
for the evening.
7. We encourage you to use the information you will learn, but appreciate you giving
credit to those who have provided it.
8. Patterns are copyrighted. All rights are reserved.
9. Any patterns you receive at the seminar or purchase from our website entitles you to
make as many items from the pattern as you like for personal or business use. Please
do not sell, reproduce, or give copies of the pattern(s) to others.

CLASS DESCRIPTIONS
BODICE $425 (2 days)







Learn how to build a bodice from start to finish.
Class includes the basics of "what you need to know", "how to alter a bodice pattern" and "how
to fit a dancer".
Construction steps: Including all about fabric, supply and notion options (lining types, boning,
casings)
Finishing: Hand sewing, hooks and bars, elastics, and how to attach the bodice to the basque
You'll have a completed bodice when done, and knowledge about when, why, and how to.
o Pattern SIZES: Adult - A, B, C Girls - 6, 8, 10
Purchase KITS (includes fabric, lining, boning, casing, hooks, petersham waistband)

Includes:
 What you need to know about net, construction, shaping, steaming, and tacking
 How to alter the pattern for fit and easy alterations
 "How to fit a dancer"
 The importance of silhouette

EMBELISHING TECHNIQUES AND PROJECT $275 (1 day)
TECHNIQUES
 Learn what you need to know about designing for ballet, choreography, stage and lighting
 Learn secrets of "making a tutu your own"
 How to embellish with trims, laces and fabrics
 How to dye nets for color, techniques to do multi colors, and more
Dyeing (lecture/demonstration)
 Learn the importance of how to balance your design and embellishment so not to overwhelm
the dancer but instead enhance their line
 All supplies for techniques are included.
PROJECTS:
 Work on designing and embellishing your tutu
 As each design is unique, you will be contacted about some kit choices.
 Or "BRING YOUR OWN"
WHAT TO BRING AND CLASS FABRIC AND SUPPLY LIST
Please read carefully and bring all needed items for the seminar AND your classes. We do
recommend that you bring your own fabrics and supplies. For those of you who already have
fabrics and supplies, there is no sense in buying more from us.
If you have any questions about any of the items on the list or kit information,
please contact me.

Overlocker/Serger - if possible (foot pedal, tools, serger/overlock threads)

Sewing supplies (scissors, hand sewing needles, threads, bobbins, straight pins, seam

5. A desk lamp is recommended. Sewing area may be a bit dim for your preference.
6. Threads (regular, good quality thread to match tutu(s) color)
7. Cutting and rotary mat areas will be provided. You may wish to bring a small mat with
you if driving to the seminar.
8. Marking or tracing supplies (marking pens, tracing paper/tracing wheel, etc.)
We suggest you bring at least 2 different colors.

CLASS FABRIC AND SUPPLY LIST:
BODICE CLASS
1. TOP OR FASHION FABRIC:
1½ yds for bodice/piping/basque
Recommended: Tight weaved, medium to heavy weight fabrics like Faille (bengaline),
jacquards, upholstery brocades, etc.
Loose weaves are more difficult to work with
2. LINING:
1+ yds coutil, twill, or drill (pre-washed to prevent and minimize shrinkage)
3. PIPING CORD
3+ yds (2-4mm size or 1/16” elastic cord)
4. BONING:
For straight seams: ¼", ⅜” white steels or ½" plastic
For curved seams: ¼" spiral boning (include tips if spiral steel boning is not precut)
5. BONING CASING
½" or ¾" (as needed to fit above bones)
6. HOOKS AND BARS
12 -15 sets of #3’s or #6’s
7. ½" ELASTIC
40" nude color or tea dyed

1-1½ yds light weight cotton (batiste) or cotton blend
4. TUTU NET:
12 yds (59" english tutu net)
5. WAISTBAND:
1 yd petersham ribbon (plus 6" of 1" elastic if using stiff petersham)
or
1 yd of 1" grosgrain ribbon
6. ⅜" ELASTIC:
