Job Description – Knowledge Transfer Manager – Agriculture (Plants and Crops sector) Job Purpose To deliver knowledge transfer and other activities aimed at stimulating innovation across the Plants, Crops and wider Agri-‐food sector. Reporting to the Head of Agriculture. Grade: Manager Key accountabilities 1) Take a leading role through to successful completion of assigned projects that are aligned with Knowledge Transfer Network (KTN) and Innovate UK priorities. 2) To build the understanding and communication of the UK’s innovation capability in the Plants and Crops sector in the context of the wider Agri-‐food supply chain. 3) Build and maintain strong relationships with Plants and Crops sector and Agri-‐food businesses spanning innovative SME’s but also large and medium size companies and research groups, helping them access the expertise and funding to successfully innovate. 4) Developing plans to stimulate innovation within the sector and at the interfaces between technologies and other sectors in support of the Plants, Crops and wider Agri-‐food sector. 5) Working with and helping other KTN colleagues in support of the above Job scope • • • • No direct reports but programme management responsibilities Knowledge transfer Innovation network support Event design and delivery Job responsibilities 1) Development of a good understand of the technology needs of the UK Plants Agriculture industry and the scientific capabilities of the research base, facilitating the transfer of knowledge and the establishment of collaborations 2) Help understand and facilitate access to knowledge transfer and innovation support mechanisms (e.g. Innovate UK, EU) and to help develop strong funding proposals 3) Generate ideas for effective networking or roadmapping/foresighting workshops to support priority areas 4) Working across the KTN, to maximise opportunities for cross-‐sectors and multidisciplinary collaboration and innovation in support of the Plants and Crops sector 5) Provide technical support to projects, helping to take projects to their conclusion and reporting on progress and outcomes 6) Market the benefits of working with the KTN to a wide range of relevant stakeholders, including the identification of success stories leading from KTN activity 7) Organising technical meetings, workshops, events and exchange programmes 8) Monitor international developments and initiatives that may be of benefit to UK stakeholders across government, the research base and industry 9) Any other reasonably delegated activities Experience and qualifications 1. Experience in knowledge transfer and/or stimulating innovation 2. Educated to degree level or above (preferably PhD) in subject of relevance to biological science and or Agriculture 3. Technical and business experience at a senior level in one or more key areas of relevance to Plant Agriculture desirable 4. Demonstrated administrative and organisational skills 5.
