Preserving Yesterday, Excelling Today, Preparing for Tomorrow No. 137 Snow Day! A sheet of snow blanketed the SloanHendrix campus on Tuesday, January 15th. Students were dismissed early from school at 12:30; however, many students did not make it home that early. Between the snow falling so quickly in the Imboden area and a diesel truck getting stuck in the road stopping traffic, six buses had to turn around and come back to campus. Several people were held up in the traffic on the road for approximately 3 hours. Students that returned to campus waited patiently in the cafeteria until someone could get to school and pick them up or until they were taken home by school officials or law enforcement officers using 4-wheel drive vehicles. A huge thank you goes out to all of those school employees that were so kind to stay at school and assist with taking care of the students until they could get home. Sloan-Hendrix Schools along with several other area schools closed for the day, Wednesday, January 16th. SH returned to campus on Thursday, beginning at 9:00 and ran only those bus routes that were safe to travel. The snow left almost as quickly as it came.
