Passport Behavioral Health Providers
Background:
To ensure uninterrupted processing of claims, providers’ National Provider Identifier (NPI) and
taxonomy codes must match those on record with the Department for Medicaid Services
(DMS). The provider must also be enrolled with Passport using the same NPI.
Passport will be validating claims to make sure there are no duplications of paid claims.
Provider Action Needed:
Please submit claims to Passport by using the following guidelines:
• Enter the appropriate provider-type claim form
• Enter the correct NPI (match those on record with DMS which links to your Medicaid
number)
• Enter the correct taxonomy codes ( match those on record with DMS which links to
your Medicaid number)
• Ensure that the NPI and taxonomy are all valid on the date of service per DMS.
Effective June 15, 2015, if the codes do not match DMS records, your claim will be denied. Any
claims submitted and paid prior to June 15, 2015, that did not adhere to these requirements
will be recouped through the standard recoupment process. If you would like to check what
you have on file with DMS, please call DMS provider services,
