Recruitment: This position is open to all qualified applicants.
Hourly: $10.00 per hour during training - $11.00 per hour when trained.
This position will be a minimum of 5 hours per week.
Responsibilities: Under general supervision
 Counsels and supports WIC pregnant and breastfeeding mothers on the basics
of breastfeeding by telephone, home visits, WIC clinic and/ or other sites as
assigned by the Breastfeeding Coordinator.
 Maintains a caseload of WIC participants and makes routine periodic contacts
with all clients assigned.
 Keeps accurate records of all contacts made with WIC participants.
 Refers WIC participants as necessary to appropriate agencies.
 Attends and assists with prenatal classes and breastfeeding support groups as
available.
 Attends monthly staff meetings and breastfeeding conferences as appropriate.
Minimum Experience: Has successfully breastfed at least one baby for 6 months
or more (do not have to be currently breastfeeding).
Preferred Qualifications:
 Certified Lactation Counselor (CLC)
 Current or previous WIC recipient preferred.
Additional Information: Applicants must complete and submit a GA Merit System
Application before close of business on the application deadline. All qualified
applicants will be considered, but may not necessarily receive an Interview.
