(CWB 477). Gospel Acclamation: God loved the world so much, he gave his only Son, that all who believed in him might have eternal life. We pray for those who have died recently especially Patrick Lucas and Margaret Beriman and for those whose anniversaries occur at this time, especially, Margaret O’Dea, Gerald Collins, Tony Rogers, Pierina and Neil Zanardo. Living the Paschal Mystery When we speak of God’s great love for the world, that he created as good, we are challenged by the existence of human suffering and the apparent triumph of evil and darkness. If God is good and loves the world, how can we make sense of evil and suffering? Job wrestled with this question. As Christians, we can only make sense of it by contemplating the cross on which Christ was lifted up as a sign of both agony and triumph for a hope that reaches beyond death. Prayer A variation on today’s Collect is apt for those approaching Baptism or reception: O God, who through your Word reconciles the human race to yourself, grant, we pray, that with devotion and faith, we may hasten toward the solemn celebrations to come. Pray this prayer often this week. RITE OF WELCOME We welcome the Donohue, Horozidis, Rao, Scott, Steinschulte, Taouk, Tay, Varasso, Wilks-Beasy, and Xuereb families as they present their children in preparation for baptism. CITY OF BOROONDARA COMMUNITY HUB The Council has entered into a four-year project, 2014-2018 to provide a centre for community services and programs for residents in north–east Balwyn to be called the ‘Community Hub’.
