We ask not for money, but for a donation of chocolate. This will be used for our chocolate tombola stall at the spring fayre in May. Staffing: As you will be aware there are teaching staff shortages nationwide. In order for us to fulfil our contractual obligations to staff and minimise disruption for our pupils, Mrs Casasola, Miss Carle, Mrs Kendal, Mrs Swanson, Miss Robertson, Miss Moir and Mrs Watt’s teaching timetables have been temporarily adapted. Abernethy: The P7 pupils will be taking part in an outdoor learning trip to Abernethy from the 5-8 May. Mrs McKechnie, Miss Cormack and Miss Duff shall be accompanying the pupils. Friday Feast: Our next Friday Feast will be on Friday 24 April. Donations of home baking would be welcomed! Restorative Practice: As a school we will be looking at Restorative Practice. We are being supported by Moira Deans, Educational Psychologist in the methodologies involved. “Every child has a right to have a say in all matters affecting them, and to have their views taken seriously”. Article 12 RRSA Robert Gordon University Link: A huge thanks to everyone who has been involved in the proposed designs for our playground. The models and designs that the pupils/students have created are inspirational. Portlethen Dance Off: This will be held in the school gym hall on Wednesday 13 May. More details to follow….. Page 2 Please note that the school is closed on Monday 4 May. School Sports Day: This is planned for Thursday 14 May at 9.45 am at Portlethen Academy. Please could children come into school wearing sports kit and bring a water bottle and waterproof jacket. Parents, Carers, friends and grandparents are welcome to come and spectate. Remember to bring your trainers for the adult races!!! P1 intake for next session: We now have 99 P1 pupils enrolled for August 2015. An information evening has been arranged for Wednesday 29 April at 6 pm in the school gym hall. The school is not used as a polling station. Bugsy Malone: The P7’s will be performing “Bugsy Malone” on Tuesday 16 June. “Every child has a right to relax, play and take part in a wide range of cultural and artistic activities”. Article 31 RRSA Water Bottles: Please could you ensure that you child has a water bottle for school? Research shows that children who are hydrated perform better at school. Please like our facebook page! School Uniform: Many thanks for your co-operation in ensuring that the children are coming to school in appropriate school uniform. Lost property: All unclaimed property will be recycled on Friday 1 May. Please come and check our lost property before then.
