Project 100 London Coordinator

partners and agencies across London
Main Purpose:
To support access to high quality peer support for people living with HIV across the UK through
the implementation of Project 100
To work with partner agencies, groups and networks across London in training and supporting
people living with HIV to become volunteer peer mentors; and directly support a team of
volunteer peer mentors within Positively UK
Duties and Responsibilities
Support for Partners Across London
 Provide organisational assessment, advice and support for developing and
implementing peer mentoring
 Contribute to the development of a package of support for organisations
including volunteer co-ordination, monitoring, evaluation and professional
development
 Support partners to establish a good supervision process for peer mentors
Training
 Facilitate core peer mentor training with the Project 1000 team and other
Positively UK staff
 Ensure training meets the requirements set out in the Quality Standards of HIV
Support (in development), Open College Network and other standard and
awarding bodies
 Facilitate core peer mentor training in partnership with other organisations,
patient groups and NHS Trusts
 Working with Positively UK programme leads including gay men’s worker,
women’s worker, welfare benefits lead, National coordinator and project
manager to identify the further training needs of volunteers and develop project
specific training.
 Support the development and delivery of new training modules for volunteer
and mentor coordinators
 Support the development and implementation of training for new qualifications
and delivery of training online e.g. treatment information
 Working with partner agencies in the development and implementation of
training modules

Learning
 Contribute to online peer mentoring learning platform and mentor community
area of website
 Assess the current peer mentor qualification and new qualifications to be
developed in line with awarding bodies such as Open College Network
London Peer Mentors
 Manage a small team of volunteer peer mentors, matching mentors and
mentees, and overseeing case management
 Provide 1-2-1 support for volunteer peer mentors within your team and where
required other mentors based at Positively UK
 Facilitate supervision groups at Positively UK and venues around London
 Train and support volunteer mentors to facilitate groups and workshops; and
developed new group work interventions
 Co-facilitate groups and workshops with volunteer peer mentors including
Positively UK’s recently diagnosed workshops
Monitoring and Evaluation
 Ensure records are kept of all interventions with volunteer peer mentors and
direct beneficiaries in line with organisational practice
 Support the development and implementation of systems for internal evaluation
of the project
 Work with the independent research team and implement systems to support
the external evaluation of the project
Personal Development
 Actively participate in team supervision and staff and team meetings as required
 Identify personal development needs and undertake actions to address these
Administration:
 Ensure paper files and electronic records are kept up-to-date and each contact
recorded.
 Ensure all monitoring information, evaluation and reports are completed to agreed
deadlines
General Tasks:
 To share with other staff responsibility for providing office cover, including
answering the phones, keeping records and statistics and doing own
administration
 To carry out all duties with due regard to Positively UK's Equal Opportunities,

 To carry out such other duties and responsibilities as may reasonably be
required by the Line Manager, compatible with the objectives and level of
responsibilities held by the post

Person Specification: Project 100 London Coordinator
Essential
1. Experience
Volunteering in a not-for-profit organisation, and of providing one-to-one support to
vulnerable groups, experience of delivering training to people from a wide range of
backgrounds, working with volunteers; working collaboratively with the voluntary and
community sector and/or NHS agencies; establishing monitoring and evaluation systems
2. Skills and Abilities
Good IT skills; Strong oral and written communication skills; Ability to organise
conflicting priorities and work on own initiative Good knowledge of health and social
care voluntary and statutory services in the UK, Excellent understanding of HIV
issues and the different needs of people living with HIV in high and low prevalence
areas
3. Personal Qualities
HIV positive diagnosis for at least 2 years; Willingness to learn; Accuracy/Attention
to detail; Tact and good people skills; Interest in health and social care; Patience;
Collaborative and a good team player; Ability to motivate others; Work with
Passion!! Problem-solving and ability to research client needs; emotionally resilient,
self-aware and able to recognise own support needs when under stress
4. Attitudes and Values
Commitment to the rights of people living with HIV to equal opportunities and ability to
work with diverse people; Commitment to personal training and development;
Understanding of confidentiality

5. Experience
Assessment and case work systems; supporting the development of volunteers; public
speaking or willingness to learn; collaborative working with the voluntary and
community sector and/or NHS agencies
6. Skills and Abilities
Group facilitation skills; teaching or life-long education qualification or ability to commit
to attaining this; Knowledge of language(s) other than English
Terms & Conditions:
 This is a contract to March 2019 with an annual salary of £30,000 pa which is subject to
review annually
 The post will be offered for an initial 3-months probationary period.
 Normal working hours 9.30 am - 5 pm, including half–hour lunch each day; evening and
weekend working will be required. Time off is given in lieu and there are no overtime
payments linked to this post
