ACHIEVEMENT CORNER Business Enterprise Project The Business Enterprise Project that has run this half term has been a huge success. The teams managed to turn £50 of PTA investment into a profit of over £2000. All of this money will go to 'The Christie'. It has been great to see the enthusiasm in the children and to see them take real ownership of the project. The development in their confidence talking to people, planning, organisation and teamwork skills is tangible. They have been part of something that they will remember for a lifetime. A huge thank you needs to go to our wonderful business mentors and staff for guiding the children from initial ideas through the boardroom challenge and then to produce a product that people wanted to buy. No easy task! Thanks also to Oliver Dunn and Sheldon's Bakery. They donated so much time, energy and resources to help make this a success. Thank you also to our amazing parent body who have been so generously buying bath bombs and popcorn to support this project. The biggest thank you is saved for the children. Their enthusiasm, passion and desire to Mr. Barlow do well have made this project a huge success. Thank you. SPORTS NEWS Under 10 Rugby v Beech Hall by Joe ButlerButler-Smith On Monday afternoon, some fearless Year 5 boys took part in a crunching rugby match against Beech Hall School. The team was Joe, Malachi, Lukas, Harrison, JJ, Marcus, Morgan, George, Rhys and Jack. The score in the end was 75-20 to us. We had a few severe injuries but we carried on and fought hard. JJ, Malachi, Morgan, George and Rhys put in some mind blowing tackles, whilst Marcus, Harrison and Jack did fantastic running. Lukas and Joe did some great passing and running. I can’t give a man of the match really because I thought we all played like George Ford! One thing we could improve on is when the opposition has the ball, we don’t all need to go and get it because that leaves gaps in our defensive wall which they can get through. Well done boys, we played really well! Swimming lessons after the Easter Holidays start on Monday 27th April for Year 5 and Wednesday 29th for Year 2. U9 Netball (A) v Withington Form 3 and 4 girls went to Withington Girls’ School on Monday. We played two games of high five netball. We played both games really well and tried very hard to score. Well done to all the team, especially Giselle Hill, Victoria Wilson and Jasmine Budd who were all named player of the match. Go PHS! Jasmine Budd Form 4 played Netball away on Monday 23rd March against Withington Girls. We all put in 100% effort but sadly we lost 3-5. Goal scorer was Eve Haworth, who played in the goal shooter position. Well done girls, keep up the hard work! Lilli Sheldon U8 Netball (A) v Withington By Georgia Speight We played high five netball against Withington Girls’ School on Monday afternoon. Pownall worked well together as a team and helped and supported one another. A lot of the girls, such as Gisele, were brilliant at intercepting the ball. Unfortunately, we lost but Alice and Victoria scored some great goals for us! Well done Pownall, a great team effort! Form 3 have been making cushions inspired by their Ancient Egyptian project THANK YOU Thank you to everyone who donated money by buying a MyT Card!
