WEEKEND VOLUNTEER TEAMS
Welcome and thank you for volunteering to be a part of the
Weekend to End Women’s Cancers!
Dates: 27th/28th/29th March 2015
Pre Event Volunteers
• Route Notification – Want to see the route that our Walkers will be embarking on? Why not get a
group together and experience some of the journey or yourself. Assist with distribution of route
notification letters in the lead up to the weekend to get the community excited and involved along
the walking route. 2-3 weeks prior to event; any times suit.
Friday 27th March

All Crew Check-In Team – Assists with checking in crew members for the All Crew Meeting ensuring
they have their yellow Crew t-shirts and correct identification for the weekend.
Shifts: 4pm-6.30pm
Saturday 28th & Sunday 29th March

Volunteer Check-In Team – Suited for natural leaders, this role is to support the check-in process of
all volunteers. Working closely with event staff, you will assist with directing volunteers to where
they should go, based on their shift and once completed check them out. A great role for someone
who requires a low intensity experience.
Shifts:
Saturday 28th March - 4.45am – 8.00am
Sunday 29th March - 10.45am – 4pm

Check In Team – Assists the participants who have not completed Online Check-In; including
providing them with an opportunity to turn in additional donations, ensuring their fundraising
minimum is met, providing their packet of information and informing them of what to do with their
Wristband and Bike Tags. Training will be provided prior to the commencement of your shift.

WEEKEND VOLUNTEER TEAMS

Tent Assignment Team – These volunteers are among our participants’ favourites! Your role is to
assign participants with tent allocation and requested changes. If ‘Tetris’ is your skill, this job will be
a breeze!
Shifts:
Saturday 28th March - 5am – 8am

Event Flow Team - Are you great at answering questions and directing people? Positioned at busy
locations and equipped with “Frequently Asked Questions”, this team welcome and direct
participants, friends and family safely into the event site.
Shifts:
Saturday 28th March – 5am – 8am
Sunday 29th March – 11am – 3.30pm

Eco Warriors Team – Do you care about the environment and reducing land-fill as much as we do?
Make a difference and choose this team to be a part of. Assist Riders to fill their water bottles and
encourage participants to make the right choices between rubbish and recycling.
Shifts:
Saturday 28th March - 5:30am – 8:00am
Sunday 29th March – 11am – 4pm

Welcome Team – Are you great at answering questions and directing people? Positioned at busy
locations and equipped with “Frequently Asked Questions”, this team welcome and direct
participants, friends and family safely into the event site
Shifts:
Saturday 28th March – 5.00am – 8:00am

Strike Team – Saturday team assists with the disassembling of the Opening Ceremony site and
transitioning it to the Finish Line. Sunday team assists with packing up the Camp site in the
afternoon/evening.
Shifts:
Saturday 28th March - 7.45am -11.30am
Sunday 29th March – 7.45am – 12pm
WEEKEND VOLUNTEER TEAMS

Foot Spa Team – Are you a people pleaser? These Volunteers create a relaxing experience for
Walkers. Fill and empty buckets of water for walkers’ tired feet while chatting to walkers about their
walk experienced and making them feel relaxed and happy. A great chance to meet some of the
amazing Walkers and hear all about their journey
Shifts:
Saturday 28th March - 12pm – 5pm
Sunday 29th March – 12pm – 4pm

Traffic and Safety Team – Do you love wearing Hi-Vis and waiving an orange flag? If so, this position
is perfect for you! We are looking for a traffic and safety team to support participants and
spectators with event parking and flow. Main responsibilities of this role are to help ensure all
punters are entering and exciting the event site safely. No prior experience necessary! A staff
member will be on hand to lead and support this team with parking and event flow initiatives. A
great opportunity to speak with many participants and ensure the event site is flowing safely and
smoothly. Low impact and need to be stern with directions!
Shifts:
Saturday 17th October 5am – 7.30am
Sunday 18th October
1. 11am – 3.30pm
2. 4pm – 7pm

Gear Assistance Team – Assists the crew teams with unloading all the gear from the truck. Assists
walkers with finding their gear
Shifts:
Sunday 29th March - 12.00pm - 4.00pm

encouraged to bring a packed lunch if they would like a meal during their shift.
