Issue 7-15 July 2015 Princeton Elks Lodge No. 1459 Our Nation’s Birthday on the 4th! EXALTED RULERS MESSAGE Keith said “!@#$&*”, I think this meant I was late on writing this ER message. Has anyone been out by the lodge lately? The pool is busy as a bee hive. The pool has really exceeded our expectations. Come by today and check it out, bring a buddy, bring some kids. Non members can come to the pool. The fee is $5 for non-Elks 6 and older and for Elk members the fee is $4. There is no charge for children 5 and under. There is food and drinks available for purchase on site. As some of you have seen, the 3 big trees and shrubs are gone. There is also a 1000 block (thank you Bill and American Block for your donation) that will be used on the new shelter. Thanks Danny & Lee for your work on setting the ground work for this project. Ricky Duncan and Keith will be in charge of the project and we will need a lot of volunteers to help get the project finished. Keith will let you know when this will happen. Sarah and Keith have changed the Wednesday meal this month. Please come out and support this. Remember that the handicap camp (our major project) will be this month at the Glenwood Park 4-H camp. John Young is heading up our day and would love some help. The camp can always use some volunteers. Checks Keith’s corner for all items happening this month. Our meeting for the month will be 7-16-2015 with our BOG meeting immediately following it. I’m heading to Indianapolis for the Elks convention with Gwen this weekend. Keep us in your prayers and hope that it won’t be as hot as New Orleans was last year. I will update you on the convention in next month’s newsletter. Sincerely, Rick Miller, PER Our Nation’s Birthday on the 4th! Southern WV Elks Handicap Camp As I hope you are well aware, this years Southern WV Elks Handicap Camp is July 19th-25th. Taffy, the camp Director, has advised that this year's theme is a Disney Theme i.e. villains, fantasy, princesses/prince, mermaids/pirates etc. She would like to see that each Lodge in the south commit in some way of sponsoring an afternoon or night for the camp. Also, her wish list for the camp is needing pillows, pillow cases, towels, and wash cloths. Please only send plain white pillow cases, towels and wash cloths for ease in cleaning etc. Let's see how many we can collect for OUR State Major Project. Also, Taffy and the committee can always use Volunteers to come and assist at the camp for a day, a few days and/or the entire week. Tasks can vary from helping entertain the campers to cleaning, laundry and the like. If lodge members are able to assist during the week of the camp, please contact lodge secretary, Dave Westfall, and he can get you in touch with someone at the camp. Come enjoy all your favorite sports on the 4 High Definition TV’s (Including new 70” and 65” ones) in the clubroom!! Come out, have fun and support your lodge. Page 2 Issue 7-15 Keith’s Corner The weather has been great (AND HOT FOR JUNE!) and the golf course is in excellent condition. We have had a good month at the pool so come out and enjoy the refreshing water and have some fun in the sun. After some thought, and taking other people’s wishes into consideration, the Wednesday Evening Spaghetti Special has reverted back to a Wednesday Evening Dinner Variety. The Spaghetti actually sold better, on average, than when we mixed it up so we really need the members to support these dinners to justify a varied menu. Red, White & Blue Golf on Saturday the 4th. Always a fun time. The Club Championship Golf Tournament will be held on July 27 & 28th.. Luau Party at the pool on Friday the 25th of July. Please support this event. Should be a good time... If anyone is interested in helping out on an entertainment committee please let me know. I would like to schedule more events but need help in doing so. The plans are in place for a picnic shelter to be built. It will really come in handy for so many of our own functions but we will make it available for rent also. Member Ricky Duncan is hard at work getting as much material donated as possible. We plan on naming the shelter in honor of our nation’s veterans so anybody that has some suggestions for the name please let me know. And on a final note I would like to encourage everyone to treat each other and the employees of this lodge with respect. They really do have what is good for the Elks on their minds and they really do work hard. So try to show them some appreciation! Have a happy 4th! Page 3 Our Nation’s Birthday on the 4th!
