ATAPS Program update As a valued referrer I’d like to thank you for utilising Artius as your local allied health provider. Artius manages the Access to Allied Psychological Services (ATAPS) program on behalf of Medicare Local for the Sunshine Coast region. This program has successfully assisted over 1,400 Sunshine Coast residents to access mental health services over the past 8 months. One of the key target groups targeted through the ATAPS program is infants and children (0-12years) with current mild to moderate mental/emotional/behavioural disorders or assessed as at risk of developing these disorders. As in other ATAPS programs, patients can access fully funded sessions with a referral from their GP under a Mental Health Care Plan. The benefits of accessing this service over the Better Access to Mental Health Care (Medicare) program include: the sessions are at no cost to the patient, allowance for more sessions per calendar year and the flexibility of offering support to parents and carers, with funding available for sessions without the presence of the referred infant/ child (which is not normally available under Better Access Medicare provision). As a vital program for our region I am writing to highlight that the Child Mental Health service is currently under-utilised for the Sunshine Coast. If you have any patients you feel would benefit from receipt of these services I urge you to make a referral to the ATAPS Child Mental Health Program. You can do this by completing a MHCP for your patient and sending it to Artius via any of the methods on the following page. We look forward to being of service to you and your patients.
