Description
Theo Stewart-Stand originally designed Flatlinks as gifts to family and groomsmen
present at his July 2000 wedding. The guests at the wedding were impressed by the
simplicity and elegance of the cufflinks’ design and they encouraged him to continue
to develop the product. He sought to design cufflinks that were easy to put in and take
out of a French cuff shirt, while maintaining a simple, efficient design that is sleek and
elegant.
Design
All of the the cufflinks are flat-folding and reversable. Like many of Theo’s designs, this
product is two-dimensional, but functional in three dimensions. To use Flatlinks, simply
slide the cufflinks through the eyelets of a French cuff shirt and pivot each end 90
degrees on their axis.
Packaging
Flatlinks are housed in a comlementary magnetic travel case. This offers a great
example of the ‘Experiential Attributes’ of Stewart/Stand products. When designing
their products they ask; ‘What is it like to receive or open one of our products? Now,
how can we make it better’.

The Flatterware cup body is molded out of a single piece of flexible plastic, with a
helical structure. This allows it to spring open and close with ease.
FLATTERWARE
The Flatterware bowl is constructed in the same fashion. By pushing on the side of
the bowl you release the vacuum seal. As you pull off the lid the bowl pops open.

Kevin’s clever design is the result of hours of experimentation in dismantling and
combining bins, buckets, vessels, and random materials to come up with a serviceable
storage container that also functions as a trash bin. This product is manufactured on
