Thanks to the potters, chef and donors for once again making the Empty Bowls program such a success. $3540 was raised for Barrie and District Christmas Cheer at the 2013 Artisans’ Christmas Show! Potters who donated bowls: Lisa Fischer-Jenssen, Ploughpenny Pottery Peter Michalski, Blind Alley Arts Dotti Potts Handmade Porcelain Nelly the Potter Mary Hastings, Now and Zen Pottery Connie Leishman, Leishman Pottery Chef who made and donated the soup: Laurie Warwick, Warwick Hughes Food Market The Empty Bowls program is an initiative designed to raise awareness about hunger issues within local communities. It begins with local potters donating handmade bowls and a local chef donating homemade soup to accompany each bowl. Visitors then make a donation and receive a bowl of soup in return. By filling their bowls, visitors are helping our community by filling a bowl for the hungry. During the Artisans’ Christmas Show, for a donation the visitor received a bowl and a take-home container with 1 portion of frozen homemade soup. This format allows donors to purchase multiple bowls for themselves or to give as gifts – all they need to do is keep the soup frozen. 100% of the donation has been given to a local charity that focuses on feeding the hungry within our community. Thank you everyone for your generous support!
