HAPPY MOTHER’S DAY!
SOCIAL JUSTICE CORNER
Have you ever admired someone whose ceaseless energy and efficient
accomplishments almost left you breathless? St. Paul would surely be
one such person. In this Easter season, we read in the Acts of the
Apostles about the early missionary outreach of the apostles, once
empowered by the Holy Spirit, Paul stands out. Observing Paul’s
incessant and far-reaching evangelization, one could say, “Wow, that
guy was everywhere!” In his letters, Paul explains, “For Christ did
not send me to baptize, but to preach the gospel.” He was compelled to
fulfill his mission. We, too, each have a mission. By our baptism, we
are also called to be evangelizers…to proclaim good news, to be alert
for opportunities to speak out, and reach out, in love for the poor, the
suffering, to encourage, and to live righteous lives. Holy Spirit, open
our eyes and hearts this week. Kindle a fire within us to preach
the gospel in deed and truth. From: Fr. Ronald D. Witherup,

Fifth Sunday After Easter
Dear Parishioners and Friends,
In today’s Gospel, Jesus uses the image of the vine and the branches to illustrate that there is
an intimate connection between the two in order to produce fruit. This passage is to prove his
initiative to connect with us as he invites us: “Remain in me, as I remain in you” (See John 15:
1-8). We are all invited to personally remain in Jesus in order to live our Christian life fruitfully; and the Eucharist is an ultimate way to allow ourselves to remain with the Lord Jesus
who awaits us.
The Spirituality Formation Team provided us an opportunity to read the book, The Four Signs
of a Dynamic Catholic. During the last several months, the Team has coordinated four workshops to reflect on and discuss the four signs of Prayer, Study, Generosity, and Evangelization,
as the book highlights. We are grateful to the respective facilitators: Farelyn Lehane, Richard
Lahey, Deacon Brian McKenna, and Klarissa dela Fuente. We pray that the community continues with the momentum of “Give us more” and stays engaged.
To help the Team plan ahead, at the beginning of this year’s ADA (Annual Diocesan Appeal), I
challenged us to raise an additional $50, 00 to find spiritual activities for the next five years.
Your generosity has supported the Team’s effort, and $27,570 has been pledged. Below is the
final report of the ADA campaign through the month of March.

We sincerely thank all of you who have so generously supported our parish and our local Diocese of San Jose. Please continue your support all year by fulfilling the pledges you have
made, so that any amount collected above our Diocesan Goal comes back to our parish for
spiritual activities during the next five years. Stay tuned !
