A professional structural engineer with nearly four decades of experience, Dr S. Nasim has
been instrumental in leading the rapid growth of the Meinhardt Group, which is ranked by
ENR as one of the largest independent engineering consultancy firms in Asia. Dr Nasim now
helms the Meinhardt International Group as Group Executive Chairman, with oversight of
Meinhardt’s strategic direction, business expansion, key clients and major projects.
Dr Nasim has led the design of some of Asia’s landmark projects. Some of his prominent
projects in Singapore include the 63-storey OUB Centre, 70-storey The Sail@Marina Bay,
50-storey One Raffles Quay and the Marina Bay Financial Centre and the 82-storey Ocean
Heights and 79-storey Signature Towers in Dubai.
In 2010, Dr Nasim led a management buyout of the Group from its former Australian owners
and moved the global headquarters to Singapore from Melbourne. Meinhardt employs some
3,800 staff in 42 offices around the world, and consults on projects worth over US$15 billion
annually.
Dr Nasim is regularly invited to speak at local and regional conferences and has numerous
papers to his credit. He is actively involved in educational, professional and statutory boards
related to the construction industry. He has served as a Board Member of the Building &
Construction Authority, Professional Engineers Board and the Board of Architects. He was a
resource panellist on the National Development GPC and a member on the Advisory
Committee of NTU’s School of Civil and Environmental Engineering.
In recognition of his entrepreneurship and numerous contributions to Meinhardt’s rapid
expansion internationally, Dr Nasim was awarded the Entrepreneur of the Year Award by
Rotary-ASME Singapore in 2004 and in 2012, was conferred the prestigious Ernst & Young
Entrepreneur of the Year Award (Engineering) 2012. He was most recently awarded the
Professional Engineers Board of Singapore’s inaugural Distinguished Professional Engineer
Award in 2014.
