We will insert nuts, called T-Nuts, into these channels to attach to the frame. T Nuts Attach Carriage Brackets Page 7 Attach the Motor Box 3 Attach Motor Box to front carriage bracket using two provided screws. Screws Motor Box Page 8 Attach Carriage Brackets Attach the Rear Idle Bracket 1 Insert a pair of T Nuts into the channel on the side of the machine indicated at right. (Bag #78) 2 3 Channel Attach Carriage Brackets Page 9 Install Black Belt 1 Using the belt clamps, attach one end of the black belt to the indicated bracket, and wrap the belt around the idle pulley, teethside facing the pulley. Belt Clamps (Bag #77) Black Belt Rear Idle Pulley 2 Loop the belt around the Motor box pulley as shown at right, teeth side facing the pulley. 3 Install eye bolt into bracket. Motor Box Pulley Using the belt clamps, attach the remaining end of the black belt to the included eye bolt. The belt should be taut. Eye Bolt Page 10 Install White Belt Install White Belt 1 Sandwich the frame clamps onto either side of the frame and secure into place with the provided screws. Align them roughly level with the side pulley on the black motor box. Clamps Clamps (Bag #42) 2 Attach end of white belt to eye bolt with belt clamps. Install the eyebolt into the frame clamp using the available hole. Belt Clamp Eye Bolt Draw the belt through the Motor box pulley and attach the belt to the clamp with the available hole on the opposite side of the frame. Adjust frame clamps as necessary to align white belt with Motor box pulley. (Bag #12) (Bag #42) Install White Belt Page 11 Install Display 1 Remove top two screws on machine head, position the bracket on the head, then reinstall screws to attach display. Handle Bar Screws (Bag #56) For “Android” Display Install display brackets, then install display onto display brackets using provided screws. Display Brackets For “Linux” Display Use included screws to attach to bracket. Insert SD Card into display (in the side port). Page 12 Install Display 3 Plug the display wire into the remote port. For Linux dislays, connect the remaining end into the bottom of the display. For Android Displays, see the Installing/ Troubleshooting your Android Tablet document. Connect Handle Bars 1 Remove the rear cover to expose native electronics. Locate the handle bar wires Labeled “L1” and “R1.” Handle Bar Wires Remove the handle bar wires from their ports, plug in the included handle bar cable ends into these ports, then reinsert “L1” and “R1” into the handle bar junctions in their respective original ports. Connect Handle Bars Page 13 3 Plug the remaining end of the handle bar wire into the handle bar port. Page 14 Connect Handle Bars Set Machine Type If you have a Quilt-EZ Perfect Stitch Regulator, then set your machine type to Default. 7” Tablet: 1 Power on the display, go to Home> Setup 2 Go to the Advanced tab and set the machine type to Innova. 10” Android Tablet: 1 2 Power on the display, go to Settings > Advanced tab. Select Machine Type and set the machine type to Innova. Set Machine Type Page 15 Check Belt Tension 1 A correctly tensioned belt won’t be as tight as a piano string but not sagging either. Aim for a taut belt. Adjust belts as necessary. Page 16 Check Belt Tension Motor Pulley Cover (Optional) 1 Place cover onto two screws near the top motor box pulley. Pulley cover screws Pulley cover Tighten nuts onto top of screws to secure the Pulley cover. (Refer to Bag #28) Nuts What is the Pulley Cover for? The Motor Pulley cover is an extra safety precaution to protect your fingers from getting entangled in the belt. We recommend it is installed after all your belts are installed and connected to the pulleys. Attach Motor Pulley Cover Page 17 Appendix A - How to use Belt Clamps A belt clamp consists of two clamps and two screws. 1 Using a Phillips screwdriver, insert each screw on opposite sides of the clamps and tighten halfway. Page 18 Appendix A - Belt Clamps 2 Thread the belt between the clamps, loop it around and reinsert it between the clamps. 3 Align the belt teeth, then finish tightening the clamps. Page 2 Install Display 3 Position tablet in clamps, camera side up. Lower clamps and tighten in place. 4 Lock clamps back in place and plug in wires to the DC IN and OTG ports. Install Display Page 3 5 Plug the Ethernet end of the black cable into the display junction. For Robotics Only: Plug the ethernet end of the black cable into the Remote port on the Black Motor Box. For Tin Lizzie Machines: Plug the remaining end of the wire into the side port near the front of the Tin Lizzie machine. For Upgraded Machines: Adding robotics to a machine that was just upgraded: Complete step 5 above. (The cable should be located near the head of the machine where the display mounts.) Page 4 Install Display Adding robotics to a machine that has already been upgraded: Remove the rear PCB box, and connect the remaining end into the indicated remote port. (Route the cable internally if possible.) Power on Tablet 1 Press the power button on the top right corner to power on the tablet. Power on Tablet Page 5 Unlock The Screen 1 Press and hold on the lock icon, then drag your finger to the right lock icon and release. Touch Lock Drag to Right Lock Open an App 1 Press the apps button in the top right corner and select the app you would like to boot. Apps Button (Swipe your finger left and right on the screen to navigate to the desired app.) Select App Page 6 Unlock Screen Close an App 1 While on the home screen, press the recent apps icon. A list of currently running apps will appear. 2 Press and hold onto an app, then drag it to the right until it is no longer visible. The app has now been closed. Close an App Page 7 Update the Tablet 1 Press the Settings Button from the main menu. 2 Press the ‘System Info’ button. Press Check for update. A button will appear that you can press to update the machine. Press this button to update. (If the display is already up to date, you will see the message indicated at right.) Page 8 Unlock Screen Troubleshooting Symptom I’m losing communication with the USB Possible Problem When the tablet is powered on/off several times in a row, it can cause communication issues. Solution Press and hold the power button on the side of the tablet. Shut down the tablet. Once completely shut down, restart the tablet. Page 9 Troubleshooting
