MONDAY
WOMEN'S INTERACTION GROUP (50+)
We have a group of friendly fun-loving females over the age of 50 who meet
under the name of WIG every 1st & 3rd Monday of each month 9.30 am to 12
noon. The order of the day is lively conversation, pleasant company, lots of
laughs and a guest speaker. Cost $4 for morning tea. Phone: 3245 2117 for

CREATE AND PLAY MORNINGS:
Create and Play mornings will take place on Monday 27
April, 11 & 25 May and 22 June, 9.30am to 11am. The
mornings are ideal for parents/grandparents with children
aged 5 years and under. Children are free to choose from a
number of craft and play activities, which may include: play
dough, painting, collage, play and reading corner, puzzles
and blocks, music and movement. Come and join in the fun
with your child/children and interact with other families.
Cost is $5 per family for each session, with morning tea
provided for the children. Phone 3245 2117 for further details and/or register
your interest in attending any of the mornings. Bookings essential.
CHILD HEALTH CLINIC
With the support of the Metro South Child Health
Service - Bayside, a Child Health Clinic provided by a
qualified nurse is held at our Capalaba Centre each
Monday. Contact the Redland Health Service Centre

FREE LEGAL ADVICE AT RCC
Conducted by Bayside Community Legal Services. Held on Monday evenings.

FREE HEARING SCREENINGS
Australian Hearing Cleveland is encouraging the local community to get their
hearing checked by offering free hearing screenings on 13 April at our Centre.
The screenings are conducted by experts from Australian Hearing Cleveland
and take 15 minutes to complete. Australian Hearing will also be on hand to
assist people with the next steps they may have to take in regards to their
hearing health. To reserve your place, call Australian Hearing Cleveland on

TUESDAY
RELAXATION GROUP OVER 50'S
The group meets every Tuesday at 10 am to 12 noon in an air-conditioned
room for relaxation and social interaction. Morning tea is provided. A gold coin
donation is appreciated. Spaces are limited, so bookings are required. Call

STEPS SKILLS PROGRAM
A FREE Program for adults aged 18-65 years with:
 Acquired Brain Injury,
Stroke,
Traumatic Brain Injury
and their families and carers
Would you like to find out more about how to look after yourself and participate
in your community?
Then come along to the Bayside STEPS Skills Program, a 6-week information
and skills-based group program.
STEPS Skills Program will start on Tuesday 21 April, then every Tuesday for 6

REDWRITES WRITING GROUP
Ever want to do more than jot down ideas on an
envelope or think about writing a book? Come along
to our new writers group and we can all help inspire
each other. The group focuses on providing
constructive critiquing and learning about the craft of
writing in a peer to peer fashion. All you need to bring
is an interest in improving your writing, pen and paper.
A gold coin donation is appreciated. We meet once a month 9 am to 12 noon.

HEALTHY LIVING
You know how easy it is to let good habits fall by the wayside and let bad
habits creep in? If you feel it is time to get back to basics and re-set your life’s
habits, this program is for you! Learn how to set goals that work, develop great
healthy habits for eating, physical activity and sleeping! Re-claim your life by
getting back to basics!
The 6-week course starts on Tuesday 28 April, 12.30-2pm. Fee: $225 includes

RELATIONSHIPS AUSTRALIA GAMBLING HELP SERVICE
What is Gambling Help? A free service providing information and support to
individuals and families affected by gambling.
What is involved? Gambling can easily get out of control. The impact it can
have on your finance and relationships can be devastating. The Gambling
Help Service can help you to regain control of your gambling.
The service is free and offers:
 Confidential face-to-face or telephone counselling services for people
with a gambling problem and/or to the family or friends of people with a
gambling problem (individual, relationship and financial counselling
available).
 Education and prevention activities in relation to problem gambling.
 Referral to other community agencies to better meet the needs of those
affected by problem gambling.
 Liaison with the gambling industry and assistance in the development of
responsible gambling practices.
 Consumer protection / harm minimisation strategies.
The service involves talking with a counsellor about any difficulties that you are
experiencing or any support you may require. You do not need a referral.

A Tupperware Fundraiser will be held on Wednesday 6th May 2015 at 7p.m.

APPLIQUÉ GROUP
A hand Appliqué Group is held Wednesday mornings from 9.30am to 12noon.
Enjoy the social interaction while creating your own appliqué piece. Cost $2.50
per week for people who have previous experience in Appliqué work. For
those who want to learn the art of Appliqué a 6 week course is available at a
cost of $25.00 which includes full kit. Bookings are essential. Ph: 3245 2117.
AL-ANON
Al-Anon – a support group for families of alcoholics meet every Wednesday at
Redland Community Centre from 10 am – 12 noon.
MANAGE STRESS & YOUR EMOTIONS
You know how easy it is to feel stressed and overwhelmed? Get back in the
driver’s seat of your life with an upcoming mindfulness program to help you
learn to feel calm and composed in the face of life’s challenges. Mindfulness
programs help us better focus our time and energies on what we can change:
ourselves and our response to what is happening.
The 8-week course starts on Monday 20 April, 9.30am-12.30pm. Free intro
session: Monday 30 March, 9.30-11am.

JOB APPLICATION SUPPORT SESSIONS
One-on-one job application support sessions for people who are looking to
update their resumes or are having trouble with selection criteria in a job
application. The sessions are of 1 hour duration with a qualified volunteer.
Held each Wednesday - 9am, 10am and 11am. Bookings are essential –

THURSDAY
RECYCLE FUN MORNING
This hands-on workshop will take place on Thursday, 4 June 2015, 9.30am to
11am. The morning is ideal for parents/grandparents with children aged 5
years and under. The workshop provides opportunities to create and discover
new ways of using recyclable materials, such as egg cartons, boxes of all
shapes and sizes, empty glad wrap rolls etc. Come and join in the fun with
your child/children and be amazed at what can be created with recyclable
materials. Cost: $5 per family (morning tea is provided for children).

A FREE community information session will be held on
Thursday 23 April 2015 from 9.30am-11am. Morning tea will

Find out about budgeting techniques, what the warning signs are, debt
management, what financial options are available when your debts are in
arrears, support services and tools.

COMMUNITY IMMUNISATION CLINIC
Immunisation is a simple, safe and effective way of protecting
against preventable harmful diseases.
The Redland Community Centre Clinic delivers all vaccinations listed on the
National Immunisation Program Schedule. The clinic will operate from 4:00 to
6:00 pm on the first Thursday of the Month. This service is provided at no
cost to clients and no appointment is required.
Logan City Council has been appointed this contract by Queensland
Health. The clinic is provided primarily for Redland City secondary school
students who miss their school vaccinations, however families with young
children requiring vaccinations are also welcome.

WeR1 MULTICULTURAL GROUP
A multicultural group meets at the Centre every Friday from
10.00am-12noon. The weekly meetings include morning tea, as

ART ON FRIDAY
Art group for recreational painters is held each Friday
from 12.30pm-3.30pm with tuition on alternate Fridays.
The group has been meeting weekly at the Centre for
the past ten years.
Cost $11.00 paid fortnightly for tuition. ($1.00 alternate

ALCOHOLICS ANONYMOUS (SUNDAYS)
Alocoholics Anonymous meet every Sunday at Redland Community Centre in
Community Room 1 from 3.00 p.m. to 4.30 p.m.
ECKANKAR
Eckankar are a non-denominational group which meet at the Centre on the 4 th
Sunday of the month at 10am.

FOCUS ON FAMILIES PARENTING ACTIVITIES
“Focus on Families” is the umbrella title for Redland Community Centre’s suite
of parenting and family oriented programs.
“Focus on Families” provides families in the Redlands, Bayside, Wynnum/Manly
and Bay Islands with training and support for the important role of parenting.
Programs include:
