He was a retired coal miner from Eastern Coal Company and prior to working as a miner, he was known for his work on Volkswagen cars. Albert was an active member of the Turkey Creek Old Regular Baptist church, where he served as a deacon for many years. On April 27, 1937, Gladys was happily married to the late James Lucas "Luke" Hatfield, a union, which lasted 44 years. A devoted mother, Gladys also held various career positions in her life, including assisting her husband at the Ransom, KY Post Office for 40 years. She enjoyed various sales opportunities, owned and operated Hatfield's Boutique in Matewan, WV and enjoyed many public service opportunities. Gladys was an active member of the community and loved making a difference in people's lives. She was a strong-minded lady who took wonderful care of her family. Gladys enjoyed the outdoors, gardening, cooking and especially music. She attended Freewill Baptist Church and loved singing gospel songs. Above all, she enjoyed spending time with her loving family. "Granny Gladys" will be remembered most for her beautiful smile, her spirit of adventure, and her strength of character. Mark was born August 12, 1961, in Williamson, WV. Mark was the son of Harles and Janice Ray of Hardy, KY. He is preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Bud and Jeanette Triplett and paternal grandparents, Enois and Elmay Ray. Mark married the love of his life, "his Pam Bo", on November 27, 1981, and was later blessed with his son and best friend Mark Alan Ray II on October 24, 1983. Mark was saved and baptized at the Belfry United Methodist Church in 1984. He was the head drummer in the Belfry Band while in high school and graduated from BHS in 1979 and attended Bluesprings Freewill Baptist Church. Mark Ray had a love for life like no other. Everybody he came in contact with loved Mark. He was one of a kind. Mark is survived by his parents, Janice and Harles Ray, the love of his life Pam, son Mark and his fiancé' Christina Vaughn. Born February 1, 1956, in Detroit, Michigan, he was the son of the late Frank and Mary Lou Pinson Pauley. He graduated from Southwestern High School in Detroit in 1973 and went on to work for General Motors for several years as a machinist. He also held jobs in maintenance, janitorial services and security. While living in Kentucky he was a volunteer in the Belfry Fire Department. He was also a member of the Masons and the NRA. Bruce was a loving father with a great sense of humor. He had a silliness about him that made others laugh. His sense of curiosity and appreciation for antiques led him to many adventures as he'd often go "junkin", check out resale shops, and help others as they cleaned out their attics. He brought many treasures home after these outings. Terry Wayne Cochran, age 58, of Speedwell. Tennessee (formerly of Belfry, Ky) died suddenly of complications of pneumonia. Terry was born September 19, 1956, to Herman and Patricia Stacy Cochran of Belfry, Ky. Terry was a 1975 graduate of Belfry High School where he excelled in football. He was an avid fisherman and loved living on the lake. He also enjoyed watching the Kentucky Wildcats. Her love and compassion were evident with everyone she met, even if she only knew you for a short amount of time. All who met her say the same. The impact that she made on people will stay with them a lifetime. Audrey was a 2005 graduate from Pikeville High School. In 2010, she received a Bachelor of Arts Degree in English from Columbia University in New York. She was just getting ready to complete her Masters Degree in English from Long Island University in New York. She was employed with WyzAnt Tutoring, Teaching, and Coaching children. In 2012-2014, she was a Special Education Teacher. Audrey stated that she enjoyed working with the "beautiful people". She also directed a play, which she said she loved and found it to be "utterly fundamental". She tried to live her life carefree and happy. She had the opportunity to go to Europe where she backpacked for almost a year experiencing adventure and making friends that she still remained in contact with and went for another visit the following year. Audrey is gone from this place that we call life but will now experience a new life that will allow her to have even greater adventure, love, and happiness. Elbert was born February 10, 1946, in Pike County, Kentucky. He was the son of Heston "Bud" Rose and Mary Ellen Rose. Elbert spent most of his life in Pike County, where he spent his free time plotting an escape to some lake... ANY lake, to chase walleye. Elbert worked for Norfolk & Southern Railroad from 1973 to 2007. He retired in 2007 as an engineer. After his retirement, he spent more time chasing walleye as well as devoting his time to the youth of the Big Creek Freewill Baptist Church. Elbert served proudly in the Second 319th Artillery 82nd Airborne. He laid it all on the line for his country in the Dominican Republic and the Vietnam War. Elbert was preceded in death by his father, Heston "Bud" Rose, his Mother, Mary Ellen Rose, his biological mother, Susan J. Meade and his beloved brothers, George Robert Rose and Joseph Franklin Meade. Elbert is survived by his wife, the love of his life, Phyllis Jean (Justice) Rose. He was also preceded in death by two brothers, Robert Wilson Ooten and Jimmy Ooten and a brother-in-law, Earsel "Bunk" May. Larry was a retired school teacher, having taught at Washington County High School, Springfield, KY, and Mackville Elementary School. He held various positions throughout the educational system. He was also a floral designer and artist. He was a member of St. Paul's Episcopal Church, Williamson, WV and had attended the Stone United Methodist Church for several years also. Survivors include his sister, Margaret O. May of Stone, KY; nieces, Rebecca (Jim) Garrison of Corbin, KY, Nancy May of Beckley,WV, Rhonda Sue May of Maryville, TN, Margaret Elizabeth (Brandon) Hall of Stone, KY and Djuna Alderuccio of Naples, FL; great nieces and nephews, Patricia, Rachel, Kayla, Sarah Elizabeth, Joseph, Kelly, Autumn, Branison, Larry Charles, Little B, Mason, Molly and Maddie; special Springfield friends, Rudy and Betty Jane Ball of Springfield, KY and a host of other family and friends. Funeral services will be held Sunday, June 7, 2015, at 2 PM at the Stone United Methodist Church with Pastor Elizabeth Blanton and Father Nick England officiating. Entombment will follow in Mountain View Memory Gardens Mausoleum, Huddy, KY. Pallbearers will be Jim Garrison, Hunter Garrison, Brandon Hall, Joseph Lunsford, Larry Moon, Christopher Cox and Kelly May. Honorary pallbearers are Tony Hughes, Rudy Ball, Rick Blankenship, Gary Thacker, Brian Scott, Freddie Keith McCoy and Little Brandon Hall. Visitation will be held after 6 PM Saturday, June 6, 2015, at the Stone United Methodist Church with special services at 7 PM. 68
