SCHOOL REVIEW
This year is Research PS’s School Review year. We review the previous four years covered by our Strategic
Plan and look ahead to the next four years, establishing a new plan covering the years 2016-2019. As well as
the staff reviewing our plans we are keen to seek feedback and ideas from parents, so please keep an eye
out for surveys, discussion opportunities or questionnaires that will be coming up in terms 2 & 3.
YEAR 7 2016
Parents of grade 6 students have received secondary school information and an Application for Year 7
Placement 2016. Please list three government school placement preferences on the enrolment form, as
often we need to nominate the student to their second or third preference school. Forms are due back to
RPS by Friday 22 May 2015. Families will be notified of the confirmed school placement by Wednesday 19
August ’15 with Orientation Day Tuesday 8 December.
GRADE 5 & 6 CAMP WARATAH BAY
We wish our grade 5 and 6 campers all the best as they head off to Waratah Bay tomorrow morning (meeting
at school at 8.15am) for three days of school camp. Thank you to the staff attending: Brooke Ampfea, Julie
Minarelli and Haley Sageman. Camp is a big ask to be away from family for a few days, and once again we
have great support from parents who will be accompanying the group: Marnie Roth, Gayle Doherty, Mary
Trigger, John Girdlestone, Steve Turner, Steve Todd and Teresa Reibelt. A huge thank you to them also.
FIRST AID ASSISTANCE
Thank you to the many folk who quickly and caringly moved in to assist Matthew and Timmy’s grandmother,
Mrs Trask after her fall last Thursday. She was in very good hands very quickly, thank you everyone.
GALLIPOLI OAK
A year or so back, RPS registered our interest in the Gallipoli Oaks Project, and as one of the original 300
schools, we have now been allocated a Gallipoli Oak seedling, to be delivered to the school before ANZAC
Day this year. We plan to have a small planting ceremony of the Oak, and are keen to find any students who
may be descended from a Gallipoli Veteran. Please contact the school office if you can assist, both in
locating any students and in the planting of the Oak. www.gallipolioaks.org
EARLY YEARS CONFERENCE
A strong contingent of teachers from RPS attended the
Victorian Early Years Federation conference on
Saturday at Pullman on the Park. The focus was
"Nurturing Creativity and Curiosity". The staff were
inspired by the keynote address by Ms Claire Warden,
International Consultant from Strathclyde University in
Glasgow, Scotland and also benefitted greatly from the
various workshops they attended through the day,
including catching up with Dr Kathy Walker who helped
us set up our PBL program.
SCHOOL UNIFORM
These school holidays are an ideal opportunity to finally get rid of any non-school items still lingering, and to
get ready for the cooler months ahead. Sun hats will be going home at the end of April.
WORKING BEES
Working bees have been scheduled for the year. Saturday 18 April 9am – 12noon is the first one for the
year, for families with the eldest child in Prep, Grade 1 and 2K. Each family is invited to assist at one
working bee, according to the grade level of their eldest child, either on their scheduled day or on another
working bee day that better suits. Some families who cannot attend working bees contribute a cash donation
to the school to enable a handyman or tradesman to be employed to undertake the work around the school.
PAVERS
If anyone can recommend a paver-layer for our 125th pavers, please contact the office.
HOLIDAYS
Best wishes to all our families for a safe and healthy autumn school holiday break. School finishes at
2.30pm this Friday, no assembly, and re-commences Monday13th April at 9am.

OSHClub BEFORE AND AFTER SCHOOL CARE AT RPS
Last week we had lots of fun, with our
focus on role plays. The children
delighted in dressing up and practising,
then loved performing to an audience. We then had the privilege of
watching a very special performance of ‘Super Heroes’ by our wonderful
OSHC children that they had created all on their own.
Abbey, Harry and Zack showed to be
whizzes in the kitchen and true little
master chefs. They made delicious
coconut truffles and the children said
they were ‘Yummy!’
This week the children are looking
forward to our Easter egg hunt and lots
of games including Pass the chicken,
Bunny tag and Hop, skip and jump.
The winner of our Easter colouring in competition will be drawn this week, with lots, lots more, so come on
in and join the fun.
I would also like to take this opportunity to wish everyone a wonderful, safe and relaxing holiday and a
very happy Easter. Kind regards, Jenni
