The Level of Job Satisfaction and Demographic Variables
among Special Education Teachers
Abstract
This study aimed to Investigate the level of job satisfaction among female special education teachers who
work at schools in the middle county of Jordan. The study sample consisted of (106) female special education
teachers working in cities of Amman, Salt, Zarqa, and Rsyefh in Jordan. To achieve the goal of the study, a
questionnaire was developed and included two parts: (1) Part one that aimed at gathering demographic
information about the sample (e.g., type of School, level of teaching experience, type of disability, and level of
monthly income), and (2) Part two a- 45 Likert scale type item that are distributed among 6 domains. With
proper statistical analysis, the author had guaranteed the validity and reliability of the questionnaire, so as its
suitability for measuring the purpose of the study.
Results of the showed a medium level of job satisfaction as expressed by teachers’ ratings . In addition,
significant differences were presented among teachers in their satisfaction according to the type of school
variable in favor to teachers who work in the private sector in comparison to those working in the public
sector. Further results and discussions are explained in the study.
