Though they're identical twins, Connor and Quinn
see the world very differently. Known for being
outgoing, Quinn loves being the conductor of his
Thomas the Train set when he’s not playing on
his iPad. More reserved, Connor is a keen
observer with a big smile who likes robots and
playing in the dirt. Both boys are excelling in
school—they are in kindergarten now—but their
path to success seemed more like an obstacle
course at first. Their parents, Duane and Devin,
describe life as exhausting and chaotic before
the brothers were diagnosed with autism at
two-and-a-half years old. That was a turning
point. From that moment forward, things began
to improve, thanks to services like Easter Seals
Midwest's In-Home Parent Training Program in
Springfield. The family learned how to help the
boys communicate and become more
independent, changing the course of their lives.
About family life now, Devin says, "Every day is
something new—every day is awesome."
