The Story Continues
We have concluded our Old Testament study of The Story, and we’ll begin the New
Testament this coming Sunday, June 14. Don’t be surprised if you hear a little Christmas
music as we celebrate “The Birth of the King.” We’re continuing The Story during our Sunday School/Adult
Bible Fellowship hour at 9:00 a.m., corresponding songs and sermons in Worship at 10:00 a.m., and we also
have a Small Group Study on Wednesdays at 6:30 p.m. If you haven’t been reading The Story, it’s a great time
to start – just ten chapters to go!
Route 66 Yard Sale
The Christian Village is hosting a benefit Yard Sale June 12-13 (Friday 10:00 a.m. – 3:00
p.m., Saturday 8:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m.) at 1500 Seventh Street (very close to Route 66) in
Lincoln. You can find a bargain and help the Christian Village residents at the same time!
Make a Joyful Noise
Six Flags St. Louis hosts a series of Christian concerts you and your family might want to
consider as you plan your summer activities. June 13th will be “Joyfest” featuring Josh Wilson
and Jeremy Camp. July 25th will be “Praise-a-Palooza” featuring Tour De Compadres. Augsut
8th will be “Christian Family Day” featuring Mandisa and Brandon Heath. Information about
ticket prices and meal discounts are on the church’s Fellowship Hall bulletin board, or you can check out
www.sixflags.com/stlouis/special-events.
Hey, Golfers!
Little Galilee Christian Camp has two golf outings scheduled: Thursday, June 18, at Moweaqua
and Monday, September 14, at Clinton. Go to www.littlegalilee.com or call Bob at (217) 9353809 for more information.
Concert and Picnic!
Dumplin Valley Trio is coming Sunday, June 28, to sing in our 10:00 a.m.
Worship gathering. They’re one of our favorite groups, and we always enjoy
their testimony in song. The 28th is also the day of our annual Summer
Picnic, so dress casual that day and bring lots of food to share. We always
have more people than seats at our picnic tables, so bring a lawn chair, too,
and don’t forget outdoor games!
Camps at Little Galilee
There are many more summer youth camps ahead at Little Galilee for kids in grades 1 through
12, and they are very affordable with RVCC’s scholarship. You can pick up registration
materials in the church foyer and submit your registration through the church office to obtain
the RVCC discount.
In addition to youth camps, the Mother/Daughter Retreat will be June 12-13, and the Dads and Lads Retreat will
be July 24-25. Our opportunity to serve on the Red Carpet Team will be Sunday, August 9. See Andy Baker if
you would like to volunteer that afternoon.
Getting Ready for V.B.S.
Our Vacation Bible School this summer will be a “Bible Blast to the Past!” A
minimum of 30 volunteers are needed to staff our V.B.S., which is scheduled for the
evenings of July 12-17. Teachers, classes “steerers,” music, crafts, recreation, and
kitchen workers are needed, as well as folks who can help us decorate the building the
week before it all begins. If you can help in any way, please sign up in the church foyer or call the church
office.
Christ Reaching Asia Mission will be our V.B.S. mission this year, and they will be sending an intern to be with
us during that week. If you can help provide housing and/or meals for the missionary intern, please contact the
church office.
Our Next Friday Night Under the Pavilion
Fisher has scheduled its Independence Day fireworks for Friday evening, July 3, so we’d
like to invite everyone out to the Pavilion for Freedom Fest, beginning at 7:00 p.m. You can
bring supper dishes to share, or just dessert, or you can drop by whenever you like as we
celebrate our nation’s birthday and the wonderful freedoms we enjoy in Jesus Christ. The
view of the fireworks is great from the church yard!
Fisher Fair Outreach
On Monday evening, July 6, the Fisher Area Churches will come together to provide a pork
barbecue dinner for all the Swyear Amusement employees at the Fisher Fair. We’ll need
volunteers to provide desserts and fruit, and some to help serve the meals. It’s a great way
to show hospitality to these guests in our community. Please contact the church office if
you can help.
Get Ready for Allison!
We’re preparing for Gaither Homecoming Artist Allison Speer to come and perform in
concert here on Sunday, July 26, at 6:00 p.m. You can find out more about Allison’s
ministry and listen to some of her music at www.allisonspeer.com. The Lord has blessed
her with great talent and a heart for ministry. Be sure to invite your friends!
Join the Team!
During the summer months most of us take a little time for vacation, and that means we
often need some extra individuals to help greet, sing, read scripture, serve communion, or
help in the nursery on Sunday mornings. If you could help in any of these areas and would
be willing to be on “stand by” if a regularly scheduled volunteer is on vacation, please call
or e-mail the church office.
