EMERGENCY GRANT PROGRAM 2014-2015 The Ryerson Students’ Union (RSU) recognizes that the high cost of postsecondary education is putting university out of reach for many. To help students with financial need, the RSU provides an emergency bursary program. While the emergency bursary offers short-term relief with the cost of textbooks and additional supplies required for students, we recognize it is not enough. As such, the RSU works with other students’ unions across Canada through the Canadian Federation of Students (CFS) to lobby for increased government funding for post-secondary education, the reduction and elimination of tuition fees, and an increase in living wage and debt relief. Representatives meet with local, provincial, and national political representatives to ensure that education is at the forefront of the political agenda and a top government priority. The emergency bursary is intended to provide short-term assistance to students in severe financial need. Eligible students are able to receive a grant of up to $500. ELIGIBILITY In order to be eligible for the grant, you must: Be a member of the Ryerson Students’ Union (RSU). Members are those currently registered in a full-time undergraduate or graduate studies program at Ryerson University. DEADLINE The bursary can be applied all year round.
