Our services include:
RURU Corps is a visual communication
firm founded in 2011 assembled by three art
organizations that are based in Jakarta; namely
ruangrupa (www.ruangrupa.org), Forum Lenteng
(www.forumlenteng.org) and SERRUM (www.
serrum.org). To see various activities that have
been conducted over a span of more than 10 years,
please check their website as already listed above.
This firm is running its operations based on interdisciplinary collaborations in doing art related
projects—which among others are: all kinds of
visual art exhibitions, video and music festivals,
design works and installations, up to publishing
books. The firm acts by using a variety of mediums
and methods, which are then tailored to the diverse
requirements of the strategies in communicating.

Forum Lenteng founded by students of
journalism and communication science, artists,
researchers and cultural analysts as a vehicle to
examine problems of culture in society, in order to
empower social and cultural studies in Indonesia.
Forum Lenteng held a workshop program in the
basis of media education. The program established
networking with various communities in in
Indonesia, to conduct training in the use of media
(video, text, photography and online media).
Research conducted by Forum Lenteng covers
social and cultural data collection, including
historical research and various aspects that are
ongoing today in Indonesia. Into the frame of
studies, data collection evolved into a critique of
modernity in Indonesia and beyond. Through fim,
video and publication—Forum Lenteng shares it
research and ideas.

ruangrupa is a contemporary art organization
established in 2000 by a group of artists in Jakarta.
It is a nonprofit organization that strives the idea of
art within urban and cultural context by involving
artists and other disciplines such as social sciences,
politics, technology, media, etc, to give critical
observation and views towards Indonesian urban
contemporary issues.
ruangrupa also produce collaborative works in the
form of art projects such as exhibition, festival, art
lab, workshop, research, as well as book, magazine,
and online-journal publication.

FOUNDERS

SERRUM is an organization established by a group
of artists with background of art education studies
that concerns in social education and also focuses on
social critiques through the medium of visual art.
SERRUM invites students who are formally study
in educational institutions to practice their ideas
and create projects that could interact directly
through a variety of creative learning programs and
workshops.
SERRUM’s program consists of art projects such
as exhibition, workshop, graphic propaganda,
residencies as well as publishing comics.

FOUNDERS

Acted as the manager of ruangrupa from 2008 up
to 2011, she is also a photographer, curator, art
director, and an artist who has numerously managed
a variety of art projects.
He is the art director of ARTLAB – an art
laboratory in ruangrupa, as well as a performance
artist, curator, trumpeter, and an amateur DJ.
His work has been frequently shown in various
international events.

He is an artist, art director, and curator. He is
also one of the founders of SERRUM, where
urban social issues are frequently assessed,
through educationally based art projects. Their
program includes art projects and exhibitions,
graphic propaganda, street art, murals, as well as
publishing comics.
He is an artist, film and video programmer,
designer, and the managing director of Forum
Lenteng. Andang is also active in the executing of
Jakarta 32°C–a Jakarta based student forum that
active in producing various exhibitions, workshops,
publication of books, etc since 2004.
