Emmaus Norwich, Ditchingham - Trustee Role Description Role Title: Bid Writer / Income Generation Manager. Essential skills required: Bid writing, developing fundraising strategy, strategic development and planning, and general management. Role Summary In conjunction with the Chair of Trustees and Emmaus UK identify potential sources of funding to support the development of the Emmaus Community at Ditchingham. Working with the Board of Trustees prioritise funding needs aligned to the Emmaus Ditchingham business plan. Develop and submit funding applications and supporting evidence (providing file copies for Emmaus Norwich). Manage funding applications through their lifecycle acting as the key contact between funding bodies and Emmaus Ditchingham. Develop strategies to support fund raising and income generation for Board approval and, working with Companions, trustees and volunteers, implement them. Provide written progress report to the Chairman each month in time for Board meetings, It should be noted that one of the challenges of the role is that whilst Emmaus Norwich – in common with all other Emmaus Communities in the UK - is an independent charity, it is part of the Emmaus Federation of the UK and therefore there are constraints on funding applications to national and larger regional funding sources. These are managed and controlled through the Emmaus UK funding team- who are there to ensure all projects get a fair ‘bite at the cherry’. The upside is that EUK is able to negotiate with national funders in a way an individual Emmaus project would not be able to and therefore attract larger grants. Role Impact: What’s in it for the volunteer? This is an opportunity to be part of a small, unique team at the start of the project, helping to shape the fundraising approach and be close enough to actually see the outcomes and results. Our trustees and volunteers are a rich mixture of people of all ages and backgrounds, who have sympathy with the values and objectives of Emmaus Norwich and want to help the community. The sense of potential for the development of this site and this community is very exciting indeed. When you spend time on site you’re likely to get to know the companions well. This is immensely positive and one of the main reasons why Emmaus communities work so well. Discover the feelgood benefits of friendship, sharing interests and skills as a valued member of our community.
