The Health and Social Care Department The Health and Social Care Department consists of two members of staff, the Head of Department and another member of staff who has additional responsibilities (Head of Vocational Skills). Students can opt for the Level 1/2 OCR Cambridge National Certificate in Health and Social Care at the end of Year 9. We currently have 3 classes of student in both Year 10 and Year 11, with Health and Social Care being a popular subject in our KS4 Options process. Students have 5 hours of lessons per fortnight, with access to ICT as appropriate. We are in the process of reviewing our current specification to ensure the courses offered are the most appropriate for our students. At Post-‐16 we offer the Level 3 OCR Cambridge National Certificate in Health and Social Care to students who wish to expand their knowledge from KS4. Students have 10 hours of lessons per fortnight, and cover a range of different units. This provides progress into Universities as well as careers in areas such as care work, social work, nursery nursing and midwifery.
