24 April 2015 NEWSLETTER NO. 12 Dear Parents STAFFING SQUASH We welcome Mr Christopher Brodrick who is a MSc graduate from the University of Cape Town. He will be teaching Physical Science, whilst coaching squash and cricket at the school. We are confident that he will add great value and that his tenure will be a fulfilling one. SACS POP IDOLS The annual SACS Pop Idols contest was held on the last day of the First Term. Once again, it was a very entertaining contest. The results were as follows: Eight SACS boys competed in the Western Province Youth Squash Open this past weekend. Emil Snyman finished sixth and Brad Coventry ninth in the U19 section. Roscoe Kerby improved his ranking and moved up to twelfth position in the U16A section, whilst Douglas Malloch finished fifteenth and Nishen Naidoo twenty-seventh. Hayden Byrne competed in and won the U16B section and Kai Prashma also competed in this section. William Tweddle (Grade 8) was injured, but finished sixteenth in the U14A section. Daniel also made it into the final for the 200m breast stroke where he found himself swimming against Cameron van den Burgh. He placed fifth in this race in a personal best time of 2:19:80 which places him fifth in South Africa for the 200m men’s open breast stroke. Congratulations to Daniel Our First and “A” rugby teams, as well as the Third team, will be participating in the Wynberg Boys’ High School Festival this weekend.
