Vestry Slate to be Affirmed at Annual Meeting, April 26th
BAYLY BUCK
Hello, I am Bayly Buck. As a life long Episcopalian I don’t
remember a time that I wasn’t a
member of the Diocese of
Maryland. I grew up as a
member of St. Thomas,
Garrison Forest. I attended St.
Paul’s, Brooklandville, MD and
Episcopal High School,
Alexandria, VA.
I came to St. James by
marriage. Ralph Harper joined
me to my sweetheart, Sally
Deford, and the St. James
community in 1976. All three
of my children attended the
Academy and I served on the Academy Board of Trustees for 10 years.
Serving as President of the Board we added the St. James Center {gym} and
Science & Tech wing. After my Board tenure I joined the Academy faculty
as Assistant Head.
Retiring from the Academy in 2013 I now serve St. James as cochair of the Men’s Org and Stewardship committee, an Usher, Reader and
Sunday school teacher.
I look forward to growing as a Christian and serving this Parish as a
vestry member.
JACK DEMYAN
My name is Jack Demyan and I would like
the opportunity to serve as a vestry member at St.
James. I have been attending church at St. James
since I met my wife Bonnie ten years ago. For eight
of those years I traveled from Anne Arundel Co. to
attend church and participate in activities, such as the
Men’s Organization. Bonnie and I were married at
St. James. We have visited other churches from time
to time in our travels, but they have never felt like
home as St. James does for us. We have since moved to Cockeysville to be
closer to grandchildren.
I have felt very close to St. James as friends have prayed for my
recovery in two major physical challenges since I have been a member here.
It has been your prayers and well wishes that helped me through. I still have
the prayer shawl that was mailed to me in a hospital in Florida six years ago.
I am a pilot, although I no longer fly professionally. I fly my own
plane for Angel Flight when I can. Angel Flights are for medical patients that
are unable to use commercial transportation for financial or logistical
reasons. I feel that I can use the gifts and talents that God gave me in flying
to help those in need.
I have been associated with The Bank of Glen Burnie for my entire
life, as my father was one of the founders of this now publicly traded bank. I
am proud to currently be the Chairman of the Board, which is a position that
I have held for 20 years. I feel that my banking experience would be useful
as a vestry member at St. James.
I would like to have the opportunity to serve as a vestry member at
St. James and give back to the community a fraction of what I have been
given over the years in prayer, friendship and love.
MEREDITH LEROY
I became an Episcopalian 40+ years ago because
I love the liturgy and the history of the church. I came to
St. James over 12 years ago and felt at home immediately
and love both the physical and spiritual aspects of this
place. Currently I am a reader at the 10:15 service, a
member of a coffee hour team and a counter.
I look forward to helping St. James continue to do God’s
work and to be a steward of this historical church.
WES MINYARD
I moved to Maryland in 2006 from Lubbock TX,
where I was a member at St. Paul’s Episcopal. After settling
in Baltimore, I served as a vestry board member at St
George’s and St. Matthew’s. I moved to Monkton in 2010
and joined St James. I was immediately drawn to the
community and fellowship at the church.
I am humbled at the opportunity to assist in the work
being done here at St James. I look forward to being able to do the Lord’s
work through vestry service.
Spouse: Adrienne Minyard; Children: Matthew (29), Alaina (27),
Dustin (25), Amity (22), Arianne (20), and Shelby (18)
Occupation: Packing and Distribution Mgr. at Uptown Bakers
