opportunity to share a meal with other families in the parish.

We had our fine arts night this week and it was a fun
night of music, art and ice cream. Thank you Mrs. Griffith, Mrs.
Berry and PATS for a wonderful evening. We are fortunate to be
able to offer the arts year-round to our kindergartners through 8th
graders. This is in addition to our band, choir and drama
program. On Wednesday night we hosted the area science
association, CASAC, in the PAC. A great way to work with all
area schools and to contribute to our community. Jill Brown, a
5th grade teacher, is the president of the organization, another
example of Saint Patrick School leading the way! On Friday we
had our May Crowning featuring our 2nd and 8th graders. These
Catholic traditions are important touchstones for our students and
they grow in their faith. Celtic Spirit Day (think field day) is
Monday, 18th, a highlight of the year! Please join us for Mass,
Friday at 8:30—only 3 more chances!

Pentecost Sunday, May 23—24
Red is the color traditionally used to symbolize the
Holy Spirit, and is the color of the vestments on the
feasts of the Holy Cross, Martyrs, the Holy Spirit
and most especially the Feast of Pentecost. We
invite everyone to show their “colors” and create a
congregation of red to honor the Holy Spirit and in
remembrance of the tongues of fire over the apostles at the First
Pentecost. Wear RED on Pentecost Sunday! Please note: The
Epistle (2nd Reading) will be read in a foreign language to
represent the “gift of tongues” given to the Apostles at Pentecost
which lead to the spread of the Gospel in many lands. You will
find the reading in English in the Breaking Bread Missalette.
Young Adult Backyard Party
The Young Couples Group invites all singles and couples in their
20s and 30s to join us on Sunday, May 31st from 2:00-6:00 PM
for a backyard potluck at the Chaudrue House. If your new or old
to the parish, this will be a great opportunity to meet other Young
Adults at St. Pats, share some good food, and show your
competitive side at yard games! We ask that you bring a small
dish and drinks to share. Adults and babies in arms only
please. For directions and to RSVP, please contact Gail at

Anointing of the Sick Healing Mass
Saturday, May 23rd at 10:30 AM
at Marsh Drive Church.
This Mass and Anointing is for any Catholic,
of any age, who suffers from illness of mind
or body. Sometimes individuals are anointed for conditions that
are chronic and persistent such as diabetes, back pain, addictions
or mental health concerns. The priest will use oil blessed at the
Chrism Mass on Monday of Holy Week and anoint the recipient
on the forehead and on the palms of their hands. The effects are
to include not only spiritual healing, but also the gifts of hope,
endurance and physical health according to God’s will. This
Mass is only celebrated once a year at Saint Patrick Church, plan
now to attend and receive healing grace from this liturgy.
To reserve seat(s), please make checks payable to Saint Patrick
Church and mail to Kay Lombardo, 6 Wexford Court, Carlisle,
PA 17015 (245-2160 or 701-0110).

Adorers are needed for the following open hour:
Monday Noon
Without faithful, committed adorers, exposition of the Blessed
Sacrament would be impossible! Once we believe Christ is really
present in the Holy Eucharist, it is only logical to conclude we
should worship him. Approximately half of the 162 schedule
hours only have a single adorer and need a prayer partner. Will
you make a commitment to visit our Lord each week at a
regularly scheduled hour? Call Jim & Lana Sollars (241-2884) to
find an hour that fits your schedule.
THE THIRTY-SEVENTH ANNUAL MEN’S RETREAT
The Thirty-Seventh Annual Men’s Retreat, sponsored by Corpus
Christi Parish, will be held on the August 1 weekend on the
beautiful campus of Mount St. Mary’s University, Emmitsburg,
MD. It is open to all men in the Diocese, age 14 and older.
MARK YOUR CALENDAR NOW, so you’ll remember this
weekend to renew your spirit, and His Love in your life. Father
Peter Hahn, Pastor, and St. Leo the Great Parish, Lancaster, will
lead us this year. Reservations require a minimum $60 deposit,
and should be mad early to ensure a room is held for you. Check
the vestibule for more details and/or contact Denny Ford, 717-599

Here is what our Stephen Ministers are
learning this week in their second-to-last
session before commissioning. Pray for their
continued growth—and pray for those who
might begin receiving care from them in the
coming weeks.

Session Nineteen—How to Make a First Caring Visit
As commissioning draws near, this class summarizes everything
Ministers have learned so far and applies it to
first caring relationships off to a strong, healthy
start. Our Stephen Ministers are here to care for you! If you are
in need of confidential, oneto- one Christian care—or if you have
a friend, neighbor, coworker, or relative who might benefit from
this kind of care—talk to one of our priests, or Mary Moll.
