Panaya enabled 6 companies to upgrade
to EHP7 in 2.5 months
Challenge
CBC Group is Israel’s largest beverage consortium, owning and running 6 companies in Israel whose brands include CocaCola, Guinness, Carlsberg, Johnny Walker, Smirnoff, Baileys and over a dozen more.
Rami Rimartchok is CBC Group’s Director of Applications and Development. He oversees 45 employees plus 10 subcontractors, including 6 SAP managers who report directly to him.
“We are running one of Israel’s largest SAP systems and have zero tolerance for extended downtime. I had to coordinate
SAP teams within our 6 companies and plan for a major upgrade. The risk was very high on this project - nothing in CBC
Group moves without SAP.”
“One of our companies is Coca-Cola Israel. If our SAP is not functioning, Coca-Cola Israel cannot get the bottles out of the
trucks coming from the manufacturers. There is no such thing as downtime, so the risks were huge. And the results were
terrific thanks to Panaya.”
Solution
CBC Group split their SAP project into two parts - infrastructure and testing. For the infrastructure stage, they used Panaya
Impact Analysis to discover potential issues with their custom code. As soon as the infrastructure phase was completed,
Rami and his teams moved to testing.
“When we entered the critical testing phase, my team and our super users ran extensive tests to our SAP system with Panaya
Test Center. In the end, testing for this huge project took 2 weeks instead of turning into an ongoing project. This enabled us
to continue providing service to the business backbone.”
ROI
“Looking back, now that the project is done, it was a huge success. CBC Group runs one of the largest ERP systems in Israel and we pulled off an SAP upgrade in record time. Our total downtime was from 10:30am Friday morning to 7pm on Saturday
evening.”
