CLASSIFICATION: Temporary (30-35 hrs/week)
PROGRAM: Sechelt Visitor Centre
LOCATION: Sechelt
Key Duties and Responsibilities
Visitor Services
 Provide tourism and community information as needed to serve people visiting the Centre.
 Answer enquiries by mail, email, and phone.
 Maintain an up to date inventory of tourism and community information, including events.
 Post current information of interest to visitors, such as Tourist Alerts, fishing closures,
community events.
 Provide retail services, e.g. sale of bus and event tickets, Visitor Centre products
Administration
 Comply with SCCSS policies and procedures
 Compile and maintain statistics as required by Destination BC.
 Promote Visitor Centre’s membership base
 Other duties as required
Job Skills and Abilities
 Excellent oral, written, and communication skills
 Strong knowledge of Sechelt and Sunshine Coast community resources
 Strong planning and organizational skills
 Excellent computer skills, including Excel
 Proficient in all aspects of social media
 Creative thinker
 Team player, yet able to work independently, with initiative
 Flexible, able to adapt to change and open to learning
 Ability to work in a busy environment with many competing demands
Reporting
The position reports to the Program Coordinator, Sechelt Visitor Centre.
Qualifications
The position will require Visitor Information Counsellor Training through Destination BC and
experience in customer relations.
This position is effective from mid-June until August 31, 2015 or September 5, 2015.
