Friday, May 15, 2015 Join us to “Walk Like a Hawk!" The Sherwood Forest PTA is celebrating another great 2014-‐2015 school year with a walk-‐a-‐thon fundraiser. Let's have some fun and “Walk Like a Hawk!" Every student will participate in the WALK-‐A-‐THON! The Walk-‐a-‐thon will be held during the afternoon on Friday, May, 15th, 2015, 1:00-‐3:00. Students will have a friendly student-‐to-‐student competition for pledge dollars raised. The TOP STUDENT with the most donations will receive a framed and signed Seattle Seahawk Golden Tate jersey. EVERYONE WHO COLLECTS AT LEAST $10 IN DONATIONS WILL BE
PUT IN A DRAWING FOR OTHER GREAT PRIZES AVAILABLE,
INCLUDING: WILD WAVE PASSES, WOODLAND PARK ZOO PASSES,
EMP PASSES, UW FOOTBALL GAME TICKETS, BASKIN-ROBBINS
ICE CREAM GIFT CARDS, SEAHAWK PRIZES AND MANY OTHERS!
Students should begin collecting pledges safely for this great fundraiser. Parents, please avoid door-‐to-‐door requests! Your kids need your help to be successful; see if you can call or email friends and relatives to help support them in this fun fundraiser. Shoes On! The SHERWOOD FOREST WALK-A-THON is coming – FRIDAY, MAY 15th!
This is your chance to have fun with your friends, get fit, and help make an
end-of-the-year contribution to Sherword Forest! With everyone’s help, we can make the
Sherwood Forest Walk-a-Thon a fun day for the whole school and major fundraiser for our PTA!
100% of the funds students raise will go directly to the school PTA to benefit our students.
The PTA supports field trips, reading incentives, educational programs, assemblies, family
events, the walking path and much more.
WHEN IS THE WALK?
The walk-a-thon will take place at Sherwood Forest Elementary during the afternoon on Friday,
May 15th, 1:00-3:00. Participation is free and students will walk or run with their classmates.
Families are welcome, and encouraged, to come and cheer for the Sherwood Forest walkers
throughout the day.
HOW DOES IT WORK?
The process is simple. Students will ask people to be “Sponsors."
Sponsorship is a single donation and not based on laps or minutes walked. “Sponsors” are
those lovely folks who agree to donate money for your participation as a walker in the Walk-aThon.
They may be friends, family, neighbors, and parents’ co-workers or business associates. Please
do not go door-to-door unless you have an adult with you.
100% of the donations will benefit Sherwood Forest Elementary students and since Sherwood
Forest Elementary PTA is a non-profit, all donations are tax deductible for your sponsors.
HOW DO I FILL OUT THE PLEDGE FORM?
The Pledge Form is where you keep track of all the people who have pledged money for you to
walk, the amount that was pledged, and if you have collected it or not.
Students turn in their Sponsor Sheet and money by FRIDAY, MAY 15 by giving it to their
classroom teacher.
PARENTS: Please help your student dress appropriately for the weather; we will be walking rain
or shine. We’ll have plenty of water and snacks for walkers and volunteers.
PRIZES:
All students that turn in at least $10 in donations will be entered into a drawing for various prizes
and gift cards at local stores. We strongly encourage all students to work towards a goal of
raising at least $10.00.
The top student with the most donations will receive a framed and signed Seattle Seahawk
Golden Tate jersey.
