Celebrating the successes of Cleveland District State High School’s graduates Kate Williams Early Childhood Development 2005 graduate Kate Williams was a keen saxophone player at CDSHS and followed her passion to study a Bachelor of Music at Queensland University of Technology (QUT). Upon graduation she gained a position teaching music in primary and secondary schools. After a few years of teaching, Kate decided to combine her passion for music with her interests in health, wellbeing and science by enrolling in a Postgraduate Diploma of Music Therapy at QUT, where she learnt how to apply music in Psychology, Special Education and Mental & Allied Health. Kate worked as a music therapist before settling into a management position in music therapy program Sing and Grow. As National Director, she was instrumental in growing the program from a small Brisbane-based venture into an international program. Since then, Kate has started her own music therapy business, completed a PhD investigating children’s selfregulation development and is now an Early Career academic.
