Throughout the course of the Spring 2015 Semester, information will be sent to you via email once a month. These emails will inform you about transitional issues your students may be experiencing and what activities are going on in the Center for Student Progress and on campus. If you would like to be removed from this list, please send an email to [email protected] with the message “SIGN OFF.” Registration for next semester already? Registration for Summer 2015 and Fall 2015 will begin in April. Your student will receive an email regarding the exact date that they are allowed to register. Any student under 32 credit hours MUST have academic advisor approval before they can register. Advising appointments begin to fill up quickly so encourage your student to schedule an appointment soon. If your student doesn’t know where to go for advising or needs a refresher on the “mechanics of registration” send them to their Peer Mentor for details. YSU Penguin Productions Board and the Rich Center for Autism are proud to announce their partnership in presenting FEDERAL FRENZY in the heart of downtown Youngstown on Saturday, April 25, 2015. This joint effort, a merger of the previously successful Live on Lincoln and Festival on Phelps events, will be a celebration of the many talents of the Youngstown State University and greater Youngstown community. Downtown venues, including Martini Brothers Burger Bar and Suzie’s Dogs & Drafts, will host live music performances throughout the day. Federal Street will be the home to a local artisan marketplace and an outdoor stage hosting an evening headlining act. See page TWO for additional information. Housing & Residence Life News If your student lives on campus... March is here and Spring Break is upon us! Housing & Residence Life is completing Health & Safety inspections this week to ensure all residence halls are clean, safe and free of any prohibited items. This process makes for an easier transition back to campus after the break. We hope that you and your resident enjoy the week off; and we look forward to what the rest of spring 2015 has to offer! Resident Education: FYRE: 3/18 Success Workshop: Preparing for a Career Fair 3/25 Disney Leadership Exploration Movie Series: 4/1 “Dumb and Dumber To” 4/29 “The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 1” RHA: The RHA Formal will be held on March 21st at the Stambaugh Stadium Club. This year’s “Great Gatsby” theme is sure to be a roaring good time! The formal will include appetizers and desserts. Tickets are $15 per couple, or $10 for a single ticket. Students are encouraged to wear their most glamourous attire! Tickets will be available for purchase with cash or Pete’s Points in Kilcawley Center or on select evenings in the entryway of Christman Dining Hall. Reminder: Students with a remaining balance on their student account will not be permitted to register for Summer or Fall 2015 semester(s) until that balance is paid in full. Early Registration begins in April. Summer 2015 Housing Current residents who will need summer housing for any of the following terms can sign up via the online portal by selecting the appropriate term beginning March 2, 2015. Priority deadline to apply for any summer term is Monday, April 13, 2015. Summer Full; Sunday, May 17, 2015 - Saturday, August 8, 2015 Summer I; Sunday, May 17, 2015 - Saturday, June 27, 2015 Summer II; Sunday, June 28, 2015 - Saturday, August 8, 2015 Students who have questions are encouraged to stop in the Office of Housing & Residence Life during business hours, 8:00am-5:00pm, Monday – Friday or email Crystal Little, Associate Director of Residence Life at [email protected]. Siblings, both tall and small are invited to come “Be A Hero.” A weekend full of adventure and superherothemed activities awaits as residents and their L’il heroes can scale to new heights on our rock wall at the Andrews Recreation & Wellness Center, uncover tips and pointers by watching the heroes of “Big Hero 6,” hang up their cape for a dip in the pool at the Natatorium, and rejuvenate their super powers at our Christman Dining Hall.
