Look for the sign with your school name at each side of the graduate seating area when you arrive at the National Mall on Sunday, May 17.
Your school will assemble and march to its seating area.
Guest Seating
Guest seating is available to ticket holders on a general admission basis. Wheelchair accessible seating is reserved for anyone with
restricted mobility and anyone who is a wheelchair user. Ushers will be available to assist with seating. All guests should be seated by
9:00 a.m. At this time the aisles need to be clear to allow graduates to process in a safe, orderly and timely manner.
Safe Havens at Smithsonian Museums
Commencement on the National Mall will take place rain or shine. If an unexpected situation develops, the United States Park Police may
direct participants and guests to safe havens at Smithsonian museums. The ceremony may resume if conditions improve.

Local Television Broadcast
The ceremony will be broadcast on WJLA ABC 7, from 11 a.m.–1 p.m.

ALTERNATE SITE INFORMATION FOR MAY 17, 2015
University Commencement is held rain or shine on the National Mall. The National Mall is a public space under the
jurisdiction of the National Park Service. We are grateful for the use of the mall, and graduates, families, and guests are
reminded that use of the space is not under the exclusive control of the university. The university has a comprehensive
Alternate Site Plan in place for Commencement should extreme circumstances dictate changes.
If the Alternate Site Plan is implemented:
• All graduates, faculty, platform party, and dark red-colored ticket holders should report to the Charles E. Smith Center,
600 22nd Street, NW. The ceremony begins at 11 a.m. Doors open at 9:30 a.m.
• Families and guests are encouraged to view the ceremony via:
• Livestream at commencement.gwu.edu on laptops or mobile devices in a convenient location.
• Television on WJLA ABC 7 from 11 a.m.–1p.m.
• Various locations on GW’s Foggy Bottom Campus listed below. Space is limited on campus—please exercise patience as
you navigate your way around campus. All campus buildings are wheelchair accessible.
