SWELL SCULPTURE FESTIVAL
MUSIC PROGRAM
Every year Currumbin Primary School holds a SWELL Celebration
at the same time as the Gold Coast SWELL Sculpture
Festival. Children enjoy Art/Sculpture competitions,
displays, workshops and walks to the exhibition. A
visiting artist is usually a highlight.
Currumbin Primary School offers a comprehensive music
program fostering creativity, discipline, teamwork and
higher order thinking. Educating the whole child with the
inclusion of music and the arts enhances the quality of

education within the school.
Our annual competition “Currumbin’s Got Talent” is a highlight
and it results in some lunchtime spectacular entertainment.
THERAPY & DANCE (TAD)
TAD (Therapy and Dance), is a non-profit organisation that is
offering students supported by Student Services at Currumbin
State School an opportunity to participate in an intensive dance
and movement program . In 2014 the students were invited to
compete in an Eisteddfod at the end of the program.
YOGA
Prep students participate in weekly yoga classes held by Karma
Kids Club which teaches students how to focus the mind, increasing their ability to concentrate in class.

CLASSROOM MUSIC
Throughout their early schooling years, all students learn to
listen, perform and develop a knowledge of musical
elements. They learn to discriminate forms and styles of
music and to attend to particular qualities in the music of
different composers, countries, cultures and periods.

‘Currumbin Dance and Gymnastics’ school provide lunchtime
lessons in our Assembly Hall.

program with a focus on developing social skills. The pro-

This energetic and exciting movement program teaches children
2 - 5 years how to dance and express themselves physically and
creatively while having fun, developing fitness and flexibility. Classes run in 8 week blocks each school term by the GCCC.

I am currently enjoying my role as the Junior Choir co-ordinator and
teacher very much. It is lovely to see such enthusiasm from the
children who participate in the program. Mrs Yvette Grant, who is our
pianist and also a dedicated teacher at our school, and I are committed to giving our young singers an enriching musical experience.
