Companion Animal Cytology Wet Lab

Veterinary Pathobiology
Cytology is a valuable tool to aid in the investigation of a suspected disease process. Sample preparation
is relatively quick, inexpensive, and the procedure is often minimally invasive. In-house cytology has the
potential to provide either a rapid diagnosis or direct the next diagnostic procedure in some of your cases.
Participants will be joining Dr. Rizzi for a one hour lecture introducing sampling and preparation
techniques to ensure quality cytology preparations for thorough cytologic examination. The wet lab will
present an opportunity to examine samples collected by the CVHS. Additionally, you may bring 1-2
samples for consultation; these samples may be projected for everyone to view. This is an opportunity to
get a second opinion on your cases. The sessions can accommodate 15 participants with each having their
own microscope and access to slide sets. $75 Lab Fee in addition to registration, required.
