Prep Pamper Day Our wonderful prep students treated their mums to a special pamper session. Well done, preps! NEWSLINK Parents and Carers The National Assessment Program - Literacy and Numeracy [NAPLAN] has concluded today. It is pleasing to note that students were in their best behaviour and have all tried to complete the tests to the best of their ability. NAPLAN results will be released later in the year and parents will receive a report on their students’ performance. Job Vacancy The Twilight Markets, organised by the P&C, will be held at the school on Saturday, 16 May from 1PM to 5PM. You will have already received a flyer giving you information on the various stalls. It will be lovely to see parents and carers supporting this exciting event on the school calendar. Last Saturday Hope Services hosted a pamper session for mothers. Attendance at the session was incredible. All mothers who attended the pamper session received a treat. That means students cannot be absent more than 4 days off this Term. At present, we have: 351 students above 90% attendance 198 students at 100% attendance Well done to those students who have over 90% attendance and a big congratulations to the 198 students with 100% attendance. Walk Safely to School Day “Walk Safely to School” with our teachers on Friday, 22 May 2015. You and your children will be able to meet teachers at various areas around the boundaries of the school. We encourage you to walk, ride or drop your child off to one of these meeting points at 8.15a.m. Our teachers will walk with small groups the rest of the way. We have started Term 2 full steam ahead! In Maths, we have been learning about halves and quarters and counting in 3s. We are getting really good at it. In English we have been looking at Stereotypes. We are really enjoying our Friendly Schools Plus lessons. Our focus is about ‘feeling shy’. We are looking forward to learning more about my feelings, other people’s feelings and friendships. From 2C, we hope you enjoy the rest of Term 2! News from 6B Wow! What a fabulous start to Term 2 in 6B! We have been learning about subtracting and adding decimals, investigating square and triangular numbers and using number lines to calculate integers in Mathematics. In English we are learning all about the world of advertising by studying still image advertisements and multimodal advertisements. We have just begun creating our own multimodal advertisement using Photo Story on the computers. Now, moving onto Science. Science has been really interesting. We have been learning about different kinds of energy and how we use this energy within our school and homes. Our expert Science group has been auditing appliances around the school. Now for the exciting news! Starting from next week, we will be venturing to Deception Bay High School to begin our transition days. We have a LOTE transition and a general transition day coming up. 6B has been a great class to work in and we are a very cooperative team. We love celebrating each other’s successes. Tuckshop News All you have to do is to place a lunch order on this day to go into the draw to win. Tuckshop is open Wednesday, Thursday and Friday till first break only. All tuckshop orders need to be placed by 9 a.m. each morning. Only water can be sold over the counter before then. Please note:- When ordering tuckshop for your child please do not order hot food for 2nd break. This is due to health and Safety Regulations. Tuckshop is opened for first break only.
