Contrasting fabrics works well. Come join the fun as we engage in machine sewing this quick and easy yet elegant quilt top. Learn basic construction and quilting techniques including rotary cutting and strip piecing, using scant ¼” seams. Basic sewing supplies: scissors, ripper, pins, extra sewing machine needles, machine instruction manual, etc. Rotary cutter and mat ¼ “ foot (optional) Ruler (6” X 24”) Ruler (6” X 12”) Thread to match material or a basic gray color for everything Pencil and note book for taking notes Camera ( if you have one) Fabric (contrasting fabrics work well) ½ yard each of 8 assorted light, medium, and dark value prints ½ yard each of 8 assorted light, medium, and dark value tone on tone fabrics Batting ( size to be discussed in class) Backing fabric ( size to be discussed in class) Preparation *Wash, dry, STARCH, and iron, all cotton fabric before class. (Starching the fabric helps tremendously, when sewing the pieces together.)
